I'm sure she meant the job of "disaster manager" not the Mayorship itself.. but yeah, it should go without saying that you are going to get dirty if shit hits the fan.

I dont think that it is fair to really flip out ( Not you, But the other lady at the meeting ) on these people with the amount of stress that they have right now.

what someone should do, ( someone with a lot of storm management Experience ) should go in, and take over for the next 30 days. Let that woman get her life rolling again, and then hand her the city back.

Im not really defending her, but the position. I have lived through some big Hurricanes, and I know how bad things can get.

I was there the day after Andrew blew through, and let me tell you, this storm is NOTHING like that. this storm was smaller and a lot less powerful. But andrew was downplayed because of the number of immigrants that were killed.

Ok of the police departments lost 28 ploice cruisers. they found one on the west coast of florida sitting on the beach on its side with the water hitting the tire in the back. more than 200 miles. Imagine.

I wont go into it, but a guy who is talking to 4th graders and tells them his hobby is "drinking sapphire gin" doesnt strike me as the smartest guy to be leading the community. He could've picked a better answer to give children asking about his hobbies.

there is something like this to be dug up on every single politician out there, and it shows their intelligence. Smart people would not answer children that way... again though, I really dont wanna argue the point hehehe

people need leaders in disasters like this or else they are lost, when running for mayor in galveston, hurricane disaster relief is something you know you might have to face before going INTO THE JOB! i dont feel sorry for her having to do her job. i feel for her being a victim of the storm, but as it stands, she took the leadership, now she needs to lead.
