registrar forwarded it to me, letter is in german, organisation is called bundespruefstelle. i cannot read it, but i guess its about terminating of access to my site for german traffic. did anyone get letters like this one, how did you handle this issue? registrar is telling me they're gonna remove privacy protection from my domain.

question is if there were such cases already, as since registrar is promissing to remove my domain privacy protection by request of some german organization I'm going to leave such registrar. I got told that people just ignore such letters, but I don't know anyone personally who got such letter besides me.

I'm not in Germany either, but as far as I remember sending out a letter like this is kinda their default response whenever they receive a complaint about some site. Unless your stuff is hosted in Germany or you live there yourself, I think it's safe to ignore it.

In Germany, there is a law which requires a business contact address on some websites. I do not know all details about this law. If there is no business contact address on your sites AND your whois info is private, then they are contacting your register to find out your address. You may be violating German law by not putting a contact address on your site. Your register may violate German law if they continue to hide your real address. If there is some illegal porn on your site, then you are violating other German laws too.
