Is Lupe Fiasco really this nuts?
I don't know if this song is this nuts or is this guy just really overanalyzing the lyrics?
Here's the song explanation (too long to copy/paste): http://boards.atlanticrecords.com/ar...01#21810301901 |
Wait.. what?

It's about time a rapper with a mind calls out all these dumbfucks. This trend of embracing stupidity and the ghetto (AKA poor people) lifestyle has to end sometime.
Keep it up Lupe. :thumbsup |
I'm not reading all that.
cliffnotes? Edit: ok i skimmed it why exactly is he nuts? |
who the fuck sat down and wrote all that
|
Lupe's lyrics are highly overrated imo. Dude would be nothing without the great beats he gets. Moreso than Lil Wayne.

And I'm not a "music journalist". I'm a double major in music and journalism and I intern at at a publication because firstly it's a requirement of all seniors before graduation and secondly it's real fun to be around like minded knowledgeable people who are as nerdy about all music as I am. Get back to submitting galleries, troll. |

His song Superstar, the chorus alone is amazing IMO: If you are what you say you are a superstar then have no fear the crowd is here and the lights are on and they want a show https://youtube.com/watch?v=gz22eK25GiA Of course, he doesn't sing the chorus (which is the best part of the song), so I guess you could say that.. lol |
Lupe is one of the top lyricists in the game right now. Lil Wayne could never reach his level of talent as far as lyricism goes. Lupe could make a classic without a beat if he wanted.

Sorry guys, I simply enjoy more Wayne songs than Lupe. Why? Probably cuz Wayne is more prolific and puts out like 2k songs a year. When you throw enough shit at the wall some of it sticks.
Lupe gets some awesome beats from Kanye and other producers signed to the Good Music label but I often find his his lyrics annoying. The thing is Lupe comes off as smug and modest at the same time and he's very aware of it. I feel like if he's not busy preaching within a song he's patting himself on the back for his duality. He's like a rugby playing opera singer running for mayor. I like a lot of his songs but I simply find the Lupe Fiasco persona contrived whereas Wayne sounds more effortless. |
I love that guy

I stopped listening right after "like a chicken on a deer".

the dude who wrote the explanation needs to get a life

i like this song :)

Lupe is super talented, and while I won't read that entire interpretation of his song, it's pretty self explanatory that he is saying he won't sacrifice his message to be more commercially appealing.
And for the record, Lupe is not lyrically superior to Lil' Wayne; however, Lil' Wayne has lost much of my respect for going the commercial route and making garbage like Milli and Lolli-pop. |
I'm not too into hip hop, but Lupe is one of the few lyricists that I enjoy listening to on a regular basis. He's fairly positive, his flow is always in the pocket, and he's a master of duality.

Check out Cage, he has a song about his experiences in the Stony Lodge psychiatric hospital. :
