If I wanted to switch some money to another currency, whats the best outlet/method to do so?

You find someone that need the currency that you wanna sell and who have the currency you want and you do it with the rate of xe.com :)

Definately no the bank.

Around here there's plenty of places that will rip you off more than a bank.

To the OP, in general cash converts the worst. A telegraphic transfer will result in less loss, but so could sitting on your hands and waiting a few days.
