SE Hijacking...
 

I recently did some traffic trades and ended up getting a ton of SE traffic all of a sudden. I checked out a few of the refering URLs and found that one of my URLs was listed for the site that I was trading traffic with. Since this site already had a decent listing, I somehow hijacked his spots.

I'm assuming that while my site was being indexed by the SE bots they got redirected to this other site, giving me his spots.

This ever happen to anyone else? It's helped, but I doubt it was supposed to happen this way. :uhoh

Thats what happened to my SE traffic.

Did or could you do anything about it? It just seems to me that if this is the case, more people would be doing it.

Register a domain, lookup all the keywords you want, point the new domain to the top sites that show up for those keywords, then once that new domain starts getting all the top spots, point it at your real site. Instant top listings and traffic!

There's got to be more to it than that... It can't be that easy. :disgust

For my site, being brand new, a ton is about 1000 more hits yesterday than I was used to seeing. And it's growing today...

So, a ton to me... :)

The SE game hides many secrets. I know a few of them but there are many things to be learned yet. I wish I knew how this was done.

Well, the hits are still rolling in for me. I'm going to try a test and do the same thing with a different URL of mine. See if this theory is correct.

Nice search term, "underage xxx porn stories". So you're getting a bunch of sickos to your site. Unless you're selling cp, I doubt it will convert.

No doubt. What's up with the flood of CP related shit around here lately?

Okay, so the search term isn't exactly on the up and up, however, this is just another example of a successful SE placement hijacking.

You're probably correct about this particular traffic not converting well, but I have been coming up under many other normal search terms too, for many different URLs, all due to blind links fooling Google into listing me as the wrong site.

By no means was I trying to point out or promote CP or anything... :stop
