So what was Ike's death toll ???

More than 100,000 stayed behind to face what officials called "certain death" .....

A high death count would be tragic, a low one will mean no-one will ever again heed an evacuation order.

As of 12:30 the only report is of a young boy killed while helping his father chop down an old tree threatening to fall on their house.

farkedup 09-13-2008 09:43 AM

for sure... those idiots that stayed behind how the hell can anybody feel sorry for them? As with all these things death tolls should ALWAYS be 0. Anybody who stays is just doing us a favor and taking retardation out of the gene pool.

You hear for over a week this shit is coming and you don't even think about starting to pack up? I'd have been one of the first ones out of the area....

Darwinism?

and no I haven't seen any updates come through, from the sounds of it we won't have a real clue till tomorrow. Water is still too high to get into the places hit hardest.

certain death doesnt mean every person dies it means the chances are someone will die and they have , so it would be like standing in a field where you know a helicopter will be dropping bags of cement, sure theres a slim chance nobody gets hit , and a slim chance that everyone gets hit, but theres a pretty good chance at least one person will be killed

I kind of disagree, I see your point but with a predicted storm surge of 20 feet state officials were making it clear you stood a good chance of dying.

I think the most important factor will be everyones lack of concern during future storms based on a low death toll despite such drastic warnings.

The certain death warning was for the shoreline area around Galvaston only.. Maybe everyone actually took it seriously and left that area.. or holed up in that beach front hotel CNN etc. were in.
