Holy Shit! Metrolink train in Chatsworth just smacked a freight train
 

2 dead.
10 critical injuries.
7 cars derailed and on fire.
people still trapped inside.

Happened at 430pm.

Wow. Like half a mile from my house.

All i've been hearing is sirens. I guess this is why.

Traffic is terrible there right now. Just got out of it. Took me 45 minutes to do my normal 10 minute drive.

the girls are still stuck in the traffic. i bet you can't get out of chatsworth on any street but desoto right now.

the back up must be insane.

Yep, went up DeSoto and got stuck at 1 particular light for a while, as the traffic cop was stopping everyone to let the firetrucks, police, ambulances etc... (a string of about 20 of them) through. I made it through at least.

i heard a lot of firetrucks go around my town but im an hour away from LA

people are still trapped in the wreckage. wish i could do something. being a former first responder it bugs me that something is so close to my place and the best thing for me to do is stay away and let them handle it.

Yeah all the fire trucks and everything were passing me as I was driving down Chatsworth to get to the freway. Hopefully there was no one I knew on that train.

been hearing all the sirens...its crazy around here right now....its about 200 yeards away

its about 200yrds from the office...been watching helicopters and emergency crews go by since the accident....

sad to say a company employee was on the train but the good news..hes alive and only suffered a broken rib and some scratches......

didnt know metrotrain went all the way up there, could it be amtrak possible?
regardless which it is, it will kill all the local initiatives to get more subways and bullet trains... the opposition has been using just that argument...

I know someone who lives right by that school. They ran down when they heard the crash and shot some pics and video.

There was also another Metrolink that hit a car in Corona less than an hour after this. Person in the car was reported dead.


Ktla was showing bodies inside the rail car in between seats dead. I have seen 5 dead pulled out so far.

They havent censored anything yet.
