I can't imagine packing your car/truck and leaving your full house behind to possible destruction.

What about the people that can't afford the time off from work, the gas and other expenses. What a fucking interruption of everyday life.

SBJ 09-12-2008 02:02 AM

good luck to all in harm's way :(

That is one thing I'll never have to worry about living in the desert but I did go through a tornado hitting a factory i was working at yrs ago in Indiana

Turboface 09-12-2008 12:20 PM

It looks like the eye of Ike will be hitting Texas tonight (or early tomorrow).

No one from that area posted. I suppose the mandatory evacuations they are having might have something to do with that..

klaze 09-12-2008 12:44 PM

Welp just found out my dad either has balls of steel or just crazy.

He's flying right now to Houston.

Dunno why the fuck he didn't just cancel his trip.. Hopefully his jet will leave Houston before anything touches land.

Or he's going to be in a shelter with the rest of Houston :P

Turboface 09-12-2008 01:10 PM

"Persons not heeding evacuation orders in single-family one- or two-story homes will face certain death." - The National Weather Service (warning residents of coastal Texas about Hurricane Ike).

:eek2

Kelli58 09-12-2008 01:18 PM

I'm in Houston. Actually Cy-fair area if anyone is from Houston, they will know what I mean. :P

As for the gas comment ... afford the gas? There is no gas to afford. They ran out yesterday. Got some in last night but not to everywhere and that's long gone by now. But even then, where would you go? Would you drive 15 hours to get out of Texas? Because even as fas as Dallas the hurricane will hit at category one.

klaze 09-12-2008 01:46 PM

What are the airports saying right now?

What's the deal in Texas at the moment is everyone panicking?

Are flights still leaving Houston?

Houston has two airports as I recall, and neither is that close to the coastline.

RP Fade 09-12-2008 01:50 PM

Hope everyone's ok down there, this one looks pretty bad already..

Yah. But people go crazy... I wonder if the airports are rammed with people trying to leave etc..

Oh well i'm sure he'll be fine he's flown more times than i've jerked off.. I don't think he would have gone if it would be unsafe..

Hell i don't think his flight would have left to Houston period..

Chris 09-12-2008 01:54 PM

klaze are you sure?
as of two hours ago no flights came into houston or left
and serious delays all morning long so most flights never made it in

and baddog .. houston is very close to the coast and it going to be hit hard
it is under a voluntary evac right now. Hell i am in central texas and we are going to get smashed with it and we are already feeling effects of it

Turboface 09-12-2008 04:09 PM

You guys can get a pretty good idea of what is going on down there with this SLIDESHOW of very recently pics...

:Oh crap

Kelli58 09-12-2008 04:59 PM

There are estimating some $77 billion in damage for the Houston area as a result of Ike.

Good thing you aren't living there now. There's some major shit going on down there, as we speak.

I dunno why I agreed with Baddog when he said Houston is not near the coast..

Here's the thing my dad always flies at like 6 or 7 am.. madd early..

So i'm worried the jackass was able to fly to Houston but not out and is now stuck there..

So I am pretty concerned cause I dunno where the fuck he'd go if they are evacuating... He's likely stuck at some shelter right now..

Not good..

If he did get stuck in Houston he's going to be stuck there for a few days.. lets hope he doesn't get robbed or beaten up...

Spunky 09-12-2008 10:28 PM

God bless and stay safe :(

Kelli58 09-12-2008 11:12 PM

If he actually got in, I'm not sure how but he's probably at the airport still. They have sort of a makeshift shelter like area near both airports (from what I'm hearing). They also have tons of hotels / motels near the two major airports.

It's scary here, yes but as long as your dad is smart enough not to go outside and pay attention to what they are telling us to do he should be fine. 100 mile per hour winds suck but I'm sure he'll be home before you know it, all safe and sound. :)

Turboface 09-13-2008 11:54 AM

It looks like Ike wore himself out from kicking Texas's ass.

cherrylula 09-13-2008 02:22 PM

hope everyone is ok.... get out while you can.
