Wizzo's Hurricane Central is ready for Ike!

I thought moving back to Texas from S.Florida would mean less hurricanes but I guess I was wrong!

No worries though I have double pane storm windows, generator, lots of beer, wine, steaks and other stuff to grill, movies, and I picked up window AC this morning so that we can sit in somewhat comfort if the power goes out... Time to teach my neighbors how to have hurricane party...:pimp

i thought the peeps in river oaks paid off the hurricane Gods a long time ago so y'all don't have to worry about such arcane shit?

OMG Jim 09-11-2008 11:28 AM

At least you're in the best state to be in if you do need some "Hurricane Relief". I'm sure Dubya will take care of his own :thumbsup

Great to hear everything is going well with ya Jimmy... enjoy the storm :pimp

You have to leave something for the neighbors to bring, otherwise they always just bring poptarts...haha

Triple10Terry 09-11-2008 11:34 AM

Hurricane parties are the best!!

Good luck out there! :)

Kelli58 09-11-2008 11:35 AM

Hello fellow Texan. :)

Been to the stores lately? How insane is that?!! Kroger totally sold out of bread, all kinds. Just empty shelves. No water to be found. Forget about any bags of ice or baby food. And don't even get me started on the gas lines. I can honestly say I've never seen anything like it.

We had the same thing in S. Florida, so its fairly normal before a storm. I did see some people fighting over the poptarts in Target which was kinda funny...

B2BwithJoeD 09-11-2008 11:38 AM

Ike zeroes in on the Wiz...

Hang in there Wizzo, we South Floridians got lucky again :thumbsup

Ike Approaches Wizzo[PIC]

There's a little part of me that likes them as well... Just hope I have internet, the rest is cake to deal with...:pimp

Tat2Jr 09-11-2008 12:17 PM

Damn.... someone needs to slap me awake.... I had no idea you moved outta Florida. Hope you make it through the storm alright! Did you have to trade in your Florida issued Bible for a Texas issued version at the border?

CaptainHowdy 09-11-2008 12:20 PM

Sounds like fun ... post the movie titles.

If this is 1st major hurricane here's a few tips that might come in handy:

1. Fill your bathtub(s) up with water, sometimes you won't have water right after a storm and with a full bathtub you can at least us it to clean yourself, pour in the toliet to flush it, etc.

2. If you don't have a generator, fill ziplock bags with water and freeze them, they will last alot longer than regular ice in a cooler.

3. Remember that you can boil water on a grill, so you can make things like mac and cheese and not just poptarts like some people do.

4. If you have the cash try and find a generator, a good place right now since all the normal places like Home Depot will likely be sold out is Autoparts stores.

5. Get Cash, if power is out for days or weeks after that means no atms, stores might open but no CCs.

Stellar 09-11-2008 12:31 PM

You won't be laughing for long chuckles.

I thought the same when Katrina was in the gulf ;)

Stellar 09-11-2008 12:33 PM

Although your tips seem pretty accurate.

The tub trick, as well as the toilet bowl water.

Maybe you do know what your doing.

cherrylula 09-11-2008 12:35 PM

Good luck Wizzo! and all of those in the path of all hurricanes, forever. :1orglaugh

I am waiting for my door to door quote right now, Cali Forever!

In 05 we had Katrina, Rita, and Wilma hit us in S.Florida, now granted Katrina and Rita weren't bad there like they were in the gulf but Wilma was the real deal and we had no power for a few weeks and was in full survival mode so I know what is coming...

Tat2Jr 09-12-2008 11:19 PM

Wizzo - hope all's well man.... The footage on the news tonight looked awful. From the time line I think you're probably in the thick of it right now. Good luck!

PersianKitty 09-13-2008 12:03 AM

Flipping around watching the news reports now.

I don't live in TX anymore, but I sure can sympathize - I love my home standby generator. Stay safe and don't go outside in the winds (you'll blow away!).

Cory W 09-13-2008 12:21 AM

Looking pretty crazy on the news....

Loryn 09-13-2008 01:46 AM

Hey baby I wish I was there. We would show the whole neighborhood how it is done!

The first 20 years of my life was in hurricane land. , well it was great as long as you weren't getting the storm directly above

Zuzana Designs 09-13-2008 07:39 AM

Hope you are safe hun.. The weather looks bad ..
