I downloaded one the other day that said it was 192kb. It was, but when I played it I found out it was encoded at 192kb, but at 33 khz. Who the hell encodes an MP3 at 33khz? Friggin morons. I shouldn't complain though, it's free.

32Khz is fine for spoken word stuff... you can fit in ~10mins/meg

SoulSeek is predominantly for Underground and Electronica music. It's privately run and funded by donations, if you're only interested in mainstream music please use another service.

The trouble is that this was a music file and any CD burning application I have ever used won't make an audio CD file with anything that is not encoded at 44.1 khz.

It was probably put there by record companies trying to tick people off, as someone else mentioned.
