http://www.tmz.com/2008/09/08/ufc-fi...ng-body-found/

They dont know if it's him they found Yet.

What I dont understand is, why text message a friend? why not call for help, I am sure he knew long in advance he was running out of water etc.

Anthony 09-08-2008 09:03 PM

It has been confirmed.

It is Evan Tanner.

RIP Champ.

Evil E 09-08-2008 09:21 PM

Evil E 09-08-2008 09:32 PM

I'm pretty sure Evan wanted his life to end in that kind of fashion.

RIP

Jim_Gunn 09-08-2008 09:37 PM

Pretty reckless to go into the desert without sufficient water.

klaze 09-08-2008 10:17 PM

I am wondering if he didn't have enuff signal bars to make a call but was able to send a text message?

When you run out of the water in the desert and you don't have proper protection from the heat and cold you die fast.

dig420 09-08-2008 10:45 PM

Are you fucking kidding me? WTF was he THINKING??

D Ghost 09-09-2008 01:04 AM

Seriously?

Manowar 09-09-2008 02:03 AM

UPDATE: The body has been identified -- Evan Tanner is dead at 37. According to UFC.com, the cause of death is still undetermined.

Drake 09-09-2008 02:21 AM

He blogged: ""I plan on going so deep into the desert, that any failure of my equipment could cost me my life."

It's not like he didn't know the risk he was taking. Strange all around.

Evil E 09-09-2008 02:32 AM

Mike... he was a fan of Jack Kerouac stuff/adventure... if you know what i mean.

kesha1 09-09-2008 02:47 AM

He knew what was happening.

notoldschool 09-09-2008 05:14 AM

He battled many demons including alchoholism. RIP Champ.

It's tragic, really, but I really can't believe that the facts are straight, or that drugs weren't involved if this is how it really went down.

stephane76 09-09-2008 05:28 AM

I was just reading it on http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news?slu...yhoo&type=lgns

sad, RIP

tranza 09-09-2008 05:34 AM

Damn, that's terrible!

TarPy 09-09-2008 06:19 AM

It said he left Friday, then it says he sent the text claiming he was out of water on the SAME DAY, and the search was called off Monday because they found him.

Am I missing something, or did he run out of water on day one, then die? I mean, fuck, DAY ONE?

TheSenator 09-09-2008 06:49 AM

RIP Evan Tanner......He was one of my favorite fighters.

fatfoo 09-09-2008 07:39 AM

RIP indeed.........

Vegas Ken 09-09-2008 07:43 AM

What a loss. May his soul find peace and love.

sweetredhead 09-09-2008 07:45 AM

awful really sad love UFC!! always sad to loose a fighter

Owen Pierce 09-09-2008 07:47 AM

It's him.. He is (was) my friends neighbor. Told me about it last night... Guess the guy was a really nice guy. The river he expected to get water from was dried up when he got to it, so he called a friend to have them send a search and rescue, but was obviously too late when they found him...

Clark 09-09-2008 10:32 AM

dammit!!
I dont follow mma/ufc but every now/then I watch the fights and I always liked Tanner. Seemed really cool in a borderline crazy way. Whenever I saw him it seemed like he was taking a fight on short notice because someone dropped out and He always showed up to fight.

ali25extreme 09-09-2008 10:37 AM

What a waste. It is sad to see him gone! He will be missed.

PennyLane (not Flame) 09-09-2008 10:54 AM

Thats a sad day for UFC fans....RIP Tanner....sniff sniff

TubeTitans_SusieQ 09-09-2008 10:57 AM

OMG thats awful
