I need a free/open source file zipping software application
 

I'm only going to zip a few files and I'm cheap and don't want to pay for winzip so before I hit Google, is there some free zip software that you can recommend?

You're kidding, right? There's 7-Zip, InfoZip, ARJFolder, uh... and about 400,000 other applications for Windows to unzip files.

7-Zip is 100% free, and although you need to point to the GUI yourself for the initial install (doesn't update to GUI in windows by default), it works perfectly fine and has a right-click menu.

Comes standard on a Mac. Right-click > Compress Files.

why buying - when you have win xp or vista you can zip and unzip by using your right mouse button...

Right Click > Send to > Compressed Folder

winrar you can zip em up up or RAR em up

I did the right click>compress thing....However it was too big to email so I'm going to have to split it up..

Winzip is like shareware or something but you can use it indefinitely

did you try rar'ing them? Seems to give a better compression....
