Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop gurus...need help

Anyone here know much about AI?

I have a logo created in AI. When I go to import it to Photoshop, it cuts off a small piece of the logo.

When I go back into AI, I notice that when I use the selection tool over teh entire logo, the whole thing isn't "boxed in". i.e. when I select the entire logo and drag over the entire logo all of it isn't covered/selected.

Any ideas?

Actually I don't know.. it could be half a dozen things..

Try this first..

View > Artboard and make sure the artwork is in the black box

I just tried to test it tho and it didn't matter..

How are you importing it into photoshop?

I gave up so I just created a new file in AI and cut and pasted within AI and it's ok now. No idea what's up w/ the original file, though.

Wow that is a fucked up problem. never seen that before.

I do this whenever I have a weird problem like that..

Having another problem. Now when I copy the AI file (it's black #000000), it shows up gray in Photoshop (#333333)

Any ideas what's causing that?

Is the color mode the same in both documents/programs?

If its set to CMYK in AI and you paste it into an RGB document in PS it will be a slightly different color ... To change the color mode in PS go image menu--> mode

Also, using the copy/paste option can sometimes mean that important file info isn't transferred between programs properly. Try also saving the file in a few different formats and importing it or just straight out opening it in photoshop and see if you get the same issue. I always go back to tif or eps files if I want to get to the bottom of something weird.

Good luck!
