Hostgator, allowing hosting to expire [help!!]

I have 5 hosting packages with hostgator, only 2 of which I need now so I let 3 expire.

I was paying on a monthly billing cycle so I assumed that if I was no longer in need of one I could just let it expire and that'd be that.

But today I just purchased another package and they wont allow me to use it because I let the previous 3 expire as I was no longer in need of them.

So I've just wasted money on a hosting packaged that they wont let me use until I pay for 3 others that I dont need anymore.

Any help as to what I can do, if anything, about it?

I've contacted support but all they tell me is that I have overdue accounts

Well it's like saying I don't need my cellphone anymore and that at the end of the month I stop using it and not pay the monthly renewal without contacting the company... Guess what? The line will still be working even if I trown the phone in the river. From what I understand you didnt contacted them to say that you don't want renew. So it's normal that you have overdue accounts.

Its like having 5 cellphones though.

2 I use and 3 I don't. I stop paying for 3 and keep paying 2. I would expect to be able to use the 2 I pay for as they are all individual accounts?

Used them a s trail for a project awhile back and they redirected all my traffic because I was 1 day late on my payment....

all sorted now, had to pay for the 3 accounts I don't use which is a pain, but at least I can launch my new sites now.

They're not very clear on procedures, etc but I can't think of another hoster that allows adult?

I didn't but read their TOS... I am sure, just like me, that you must notify them for cancellation....
If not cancelled, the data stays on and ressources remain allocated. Just think if it was a dedicated... it stays idle for a month or two because you do not cancel ?

Or reverse the roles: Hostgator decides they don't want 3 of your 5 accounts anymore, and without warning, they just canceled them on theitr anniversary. leaving the remaining two. You would like that ? You would stay with them for the last two ?

:2 cents:

They say they specialize in adult sites, fast, and friendly billing. :) They will help you move your sites over with ease... packages starting at $20/month, unlimited space (so i'm told... i must be at like 50 gigs now and they never complain) :2 cents:
