legalization of pot

Do you think Pot will be legalized in the United States? I personally do think it will be legalized within the next 10 years.

Here is a new Time Magazine Article on the subject.

Should it be? YES, its safer than alcohol. Will it be? Not in 10 years. sorry.

i dont very often anymore and never but i still have to vote for yes

It should be. Likke multisexsite says, alchohol is much worse and it's legal.

ColKurtz 10-29-2002 02:03 PM

I'm kind of torn on it. If pot is illegal, then alcohol, and various other behavior changing drugs like prozac and lithium should be illegal too.

But where is the line drawn. Using the same arguments that pro pot people use, then things such as cocaine and heroin should really be legal too.

I'd be more comforatble with legalizing it if there wasnt so many people whos lives pretty much revolve around smoking marajuna.

I think the main thing is personal resonsiblity. If a person commits any crime while under influence of drug or alchohol, they should be severely punished.

I'm kind of old school I guess, like the godfather, I just don't believe in narcotics.

pot will be need to be legalized in 30 states before the Feds lighten up. Nevada is about to follow California in legalizing - or at least they are decriminalizing up to 3 oz for personal use.

[The Leader] 10-29-2002 05:09 PM

It will be legal in Canada in the next 5 years.

In the USA, hahaha, good luck :thumbsup

well Nevada maybe

One of these days someone in the government is going to figure out just how much money they could collect in taxes on pot and it will become legal.

?Why is marijuana against the law?

It grows naturally upon our planet. Doesn?t the idea of making nature against the law seem to you a bit? unnatural?? -- Bill Hicks

You just never know.

Nevada already had medical marijuana laws on the books...and has is in a sense already decriminalized pot in that you're first 3 offenses result in tickets much like a traffic ticket (of course only up to 3 oz.)

What Nevada is now trying to do tho' is make it LEGAL for personal use at home and be sold over the counter by either gov't. sanctioned resellers or gov't. offices.

yes it should be, i personally dont do it but i see no harm. However i dont beleive we will see that change.

If anything at all, our kids might see it legalized and taxes (naturally) because it usually takes the gov like 20 years to figure out what they should be doing, lol

so, so true. It amazes me that they haven't seen this angle and capitalized in it yet.

The domino effect problem.

Prohibition will never work, regardless of how dangerous the drug is. The only way to win the war on drugs is to treat the addiction as a disease instead of a (moral) crime.

dapproid 10-29-2002 07:44 PM

Well your conscience do disappear when you're doing drugs, no matter how much taxes you could gain from pot, the "pot-crime" will always be more expensive :(

Webby 10-29-2002 11:00 PM

Doubt it... Some governments "need" to control (prohibition blah)... and they are just too naive and backward. Can you see any votes in legalizing? *g*
