I use all 3. For jobs that you pay by the hour odesk is good as you can monitor their work. Fixed price elance or rent a coder

Same here.

I am looking at partnering, or hiring, a "number 2" or project manager to deal with all this shit now. Getting investment capital from people is nice, but it doesn't solve my problem.

I have the ideas, and know how to make cash. I do not speak coder, or designer. It takes 3-9 months for projects to get done between reviewing their bullshit, and the programmer 'classics'.... granny dies 12 times on the project, internet out, computer blew up, and so forth.

Even sharing the profit on new projects is worth having less headaches.

Coding is hard, only 1% of the people who say they know to code are good

you need an in house programmer on salary not a partner - until you do that you will be in the same position most of us are in. there simply aren't many solid professional ambitious coders freelancing in this industry - Konrad may be the only one right now

Agreed.

Unfortunately, I do not always have a project going on to keep a full time in-house programmer busy. I have times, like now, where I am backed up and need 12 projects done. But there are times I do not have anything going on.

Good luck finding one. I just put a big job on elance.

klaze 09-07-2008 12:30 AM

Wow sooo much stuff on elance has 0 bids...

soooo much work out there wow.

cheekycherry 09-07-2008 02:24 AM

I've been using Odesk to hire writers... WTF... biggest, most useless dump full of "cum in me one more time" stay at home moms who don't know the difference between "your" and "you're"...

Piece of shit.

I got scammed years ago on Elance and although they could have helped, they turned around and said... Fuck you! Writer again.

Hmmm, outsourcing can SUCK.

here's a possible solution if you are willing to switch hosting companies. You can get custom coding anytime and the scripts/programs/ etc... are guaranteed to work on your servers. Why? ... because they are written by your very own hosting company.

They also do it for 1/2 price since you are already their hosting customer.
