Quick question about TriCams.
I wanted to check out the site and see exactly what was going on. Clicked the link, everything looks good, started reading through the terms at: http://www.ncharge.com/atc2.html and came across something that I didn't quite understand.
Here it is: SUBSCRIPTION FEES: There is no subscription fee. There is a $1.00 (one US dollar) charge representing the Adult Verification Fee. ADULT VERIFICATION FEE: A one-time $1.00 (one US dollar) fee will be charged for adult verification. By signing up for the site, you expressly understand that a $50.00 authorization will be made against your account. You further warrant and represent that you have been made fully aware of, and that you give your express consent willingly and knowingly for such authorization for said amount. The authorization amount is not charged, and the length of time your card issuer holds the authorization amount varies and is at the discretion of the card issuer. So you get charged $1, fine. What's the $50 "authorization" and when does it get charged to my card? I don't understand. It says a one-time fee of $1, no subscription involved, and then I'm getting charged $50? Has anyone actually joined TriCams to test it out? |
an authorization is simply a verification of the availability of funds. Nothing is charged, but it does verify that if you do infact spend money on their site they'll be able to get at least 50 dollars from you.
An authorization simply allocates $50 to tricams. |
Puremeds summed it up

Ahh... ok, makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up.

As a general response to what an 'authorization' is, that is a block of credit being held on your credit card. so lets say you have a $1000 limit. if you signed up via TriCams, you'd pay the $1, and then $50 will be held aside for future charges. You don't get a bill for it, but your available credit would be lowered to $949 ($1000 - $1 - $50). This is the same thing that happens when you check into a hotel. They will block say $100 for incidentals. When you check out, they will then release the $100, less whatever you put on your bill. Now in regards to TriCams, I don't know how long they keep that authorization there....It may stay until you cancel your membership - kinda like when you set up a membership at a video store.

The $50 is just to verify that funds are available. Because we pay per join (sign up here to get linking code) we need to make sure that the members we sign up are capable of buying our services. We don't actually process any charge on that pre-authorization. The length of time that the pre-auth is held open is dependant upon the bank which issued the credit card. It is usually released in 48 hours but some banks have held it longer. If a member complains we work with them to get their bank to release the pre-auth

if someone signups to your >free< site. pays the 1$ for "verification, but doesnt have the 50$ available, what will happen?
Do they still get access to the site? Do the webmaster still get credit for the signup? |
Speaking of the Tricams signup..
Since they changed the signup page to stretch over 2 pages instead of just 1 my signups are considerably lower. Anyone else experienced this? |
