Google will over take the browser market if they go across more platforms. It's not about the geek market when you have youtube, myspace, digg, ect, they have the attention of the entire Internet. A few more years, Google OS and browser, will be on computers being built, phones, and so on.
FF, was moving up to hurt IE pretty bad until the last two releases. FF kinda went to shit and IE picked up the ball, a little. Years of releases though and FF still gained in the market - that's bad news for IE.
If FF is able to take 20% - Google will own 50% - as long as that browser stays fast.
