Shortness of breath

Anyone had this symptom? What was your diagnosis?

Mr Pheer 09-04-2008 12:17 PM

Could be alot of things. Maybe you smoke, maybe you dont exercise, maybe you have a heart condition, maybe you just ran up 5 flights of stairs. How are we supposed to guess why you cant breathe?

klaze 09-04-2008 12:19 PM

You got aids man.. i'm sorry :(

Been around any black mold recently?

I do know that shortness of breath could be caused by alot of things... The thing is, looks like I did every single test for every disease causing this symptom... All they can tell me is 'Eat healthy, get enough sleep, workout, don't smoke'

Did they do an x-ray on your lungs?

Allergy tests? where are you? Ragweed can cause shortness of breath and its ragweed season..

Have you had your home checked for mold?

Like the dude above me.. Even slight anxiety or just being worried about being short of breath can make you short of breath..

When you say short of breath wha do u mean? like you feel light headed and have to take deep breaths? dizzy?

Yeah, x-ray, echocardiogram, anemia test and many others.

I take deep breaths, sometimes it gets worse(usually when I don't get much sleep) and I look like a fish taken away from water, trying to inhale again and again and can't get enough.

Thanks for reminding me klaze...

I forget about it every fucking year and wonder why the fuck I can't breath...

theharvman 09-04-2008 12:47 PM

quit smoking!!

ha ha :)

CyberHustler 09-04-2008 12:48 PM

Did you gain a lot of weight recently?

Happened to me a lot when I gained weight... I went from 115 to 180 in about a year and I guess my lungs were slow to adjust to the extra weight while walking, running, climbing stairs, even riding a bike. I'm fine now though.

RevengeBucks_Monica 09-04-2008 12:49 PM

I get shortness of breath and the doctor doesn't seem to think it's even worth testing for. I especially have trouble when laying down at night. It's been a symptom for years, and I'm still here.

If the doctors have checked things out and can't find anything, you're probably okay. It's likely to be something like anxiety, stress, allergies, or asthma.

But then again, I'm no doctor, and there's nothing wrong with reading up, educating yourself, and insisting on finding a diagnoses.

arial 09-04-2008 12:49 PM

Get off your ass and go work out.

I don't smoke or drink much, just a pint with a blunt or two / day.

Darkcrni 09-04-2008 12:53 PM

First if you smoke, STOP!!!
That's the first and the most common reasons, second start running or walking at list 1-2 miles!!!
Stop fucking around your comp allot!!!
Also drink fluids!!!
As much as you can, maybe some tie,at list 2-3 cups a day!!!
And see a doctor, for more advice, but is doubt that doctor can help much,as for my self i
don't trust them much!!!

Regards!!!:winkwink:

Nope, I actually lost some weight recently, I'm ~155 lbs now.

I would try some medical forums instead, gfy is probably not the ideal place to get medical advice...

pretty smart advice, bad diet, smoking, and a lack of exercise cause 90% of the bad things that can happen to you

ExLust 09-04-2008 04:15 PM

Maybe you need a vacation and breath fresh air. And practice healthy living.

Ya know, when it's something that can easily kill you, it's time to get off of the internet and see an actual doctor.

Perhaps you might assume I had, and was suggesting that any doctor who couldn't help him after four years was as worthless as yourself.

No, that'd take higher level thinking abilities.

Did they talk to you about anxiety or panic attacks? Both can make you paranoid and both cause shortness of breath. If you are still concerned go see a pulmonary specialist.

I hear his current doctor has a special on fake nicknames. I think you can get a whole $5 for yours; you survived 4 months and are almost as annoying as those here since 2005. Plus, you get juice and a cookie!

Cory W 09-04-2008 06:52 PM

I had this issue, no Doctor could diagnoses it. It was scary and miserable. Every morning I woke up and it felt as though I couldn't fully take in air.

Turned out I have adult Asthma. The asthma is sparked from allergens, typically. I got some allergy medicine and have an inhaler. Been fine ever since.

Get the inhaler. You will be shocked. When I went through it, I was better off walking around. As soon as I sat down or laid down, it got awful.

Also, oddly, cold water brings it out in me. When I go surfing, right when the water hits me, I get shortness of breath. Pools seem to cause this also.
