Can we all Kill IE6? I mean really murder it!
 

OK I'm sure I'm not the first to say this but here it goes!

Is there a way that the porn industry can put Internet Explorer 6 out of commission. IE 8 will be out soon and we are still supporting IE6. It has so many security holes and it doesn't support many new technologies. It only works because us web designers and developers have to go out of our way to hack our html and CSS to make it do so.

The porn industry is usually the first to make radical changes which get adopted throughout the web pretty quickly. This has been the case for the last 10 years and I'm sure will be the case for the next 200 years.

So let's make a stand against IE 6 and take it down. Can we start forcing our users to upgrade to IE 7 or better yet Firefox 3. We need to force it down there throught and make them gag on it to educate them that there is a better way to view porn.

I think everyone should add it and we will all be happy we did. If you don't like Firefox then you should link to IE 8 or any number of the "better" browsers out there.

We really need to get rid of IE 6 and we need to start now. Some smaller mainstream sites are already blocking IE 6 all together because it is usually bots and scrapers using IE6 headers. Let's all work together and get this done.

wouldn't be a bad idea --- I don't know why people are still on IE6 -- SP3 and vista have been out for a while already. There's no doubt there are major security holes in IE6.. why don't people just update (takes a few mins) -- it will save everyone a headache.

There are still a lot of people out there who just take what microsoft gives them and never upgrade. They don't know that there are other browsers out there or how to get them. MS doesn't make it easy and a lot of people are scared to upgrade in fear that it might brick their computers. We need to educate them and make it know that IE 6 is bad.

Maybe we need to get some of the hotter girls in the industry to make videos telling people to upgrade to to FF3 or IE7. One idea I had would be to make two different videos.

Video 1: Hot girl takes off clothes down to bra and panties, stops and says upgrade to Firefox now and you can see me completely naked for free.

Video 2: The girls gets naked and fucks herself with a dildo. She looks at the camera and says thanks for upgrading.

The site would check the browser type and serve the correct video.

IE6 is a piece of shit, but it's not like Microsoft is ever going to support a standard.

hahaha! Thats awesome. I am a designer too. I hate having to always worry about if something Im doing is going to be scrapped because it doesn't work or looks like shit in IE 6. Yeah I still work for the man and about 30% of the companies traffic is IE 6.

The company I work for makes about $600k a day so 30% is a huge amount to lose so I don't blame them for not wanting to drop IE 6 support. I just want to be able to do some cool stuff and use new technology.

I am thinking about starting a site dedicated to a drop IE 6 day. I was thinking it could be set up like those emails that you get saying not to buy gas on such and such day. We all know that those don't work but my idea would if everyone just upgraded.

I second this as a designer myself, I want to stop having to use hacks for IE6......or not being able to use transparant png's without hacks.....IE6 sucks!

Ie6 is better then ie8 beacuse it loads faster.And i use ie only for preview sites.

Since IE6 is the default browser in Windows XP it's not going to go away anytime soon...

It will as soon as we make it! When was the last time you used the Netscape browser?

If we as the creators or the web stop supporting old technology it will go away.
