UK ppl: Man city are going crazy

The arab guy that bought them out is 10 times richer than Roman Abromavich and is going crazy and is trying to buy Christiano ronaldo, torres, fabregas, henry, david villa and just about every other big name player you can think of.

09 will be an interesting season. :2 cents:

ISPrime_dimi 09-03-2008 10:59 AM

lets go Zenit!!

Sarah_Jayne 09-03-2008 11:25 AM

It will be interesting to watch. My father in law is a Man City fan but also fairly anti-Arab (despite or because of working in Saudi for years). So, it will be interesting to watch his reaction if the money brings them up with a chance.

kmanrox 09-03-2008 11:29 AM

it's gonna be NUTS in january.. or maybe they wont act once they do the math.. time will tell

Ross 09-03-2008 11:44 AM

January will be fun for sure. Not sure they'll land Ronaldo or Fabregas but they will bring in some more big names from Europe now that Robinho is there.

Scott McD 09-03-2008 02:55 PM

I wish one of those 'money men' would come to Celtic :(

fatfoo 09-03-2008 03:04 PM

interesting indeed...

Porno Dan 09-03-2008 03:38 PM

I am a HUGE Man City fan ,and have been so for years.

I feel like God has rewarded me for my bad behavior, with our recent turn of events.

scottybuzz 09-03-2008 03:45 PM

Strange how Mark Hughes is so excited, my guess is that unless he doesn't win every game they will bring in a new manager. Plus I don't see the top names going there unless they start winning trophies.

It's hard to believe but look at Chelsea and how many players have rejected them in the past few years.

Of course this is a very interesting development and look forward to some world class football, but I don't see man city winning the league let alone the champions league.
Chelsea haved proved that no matter how much you throw, its down to those 11 men on the field at the time.

OY 09-03-2008 05:54 PM

If he indeed offers that kind of money for Ronaldo it will for sure lead to a new policy with salary caps for the EPL, mark my word. And that would be for the best of the league anyways.

Sucks to be MU fan and watch this.

Paul Markham 09-04-2008 01:48 AM

It will need a man like Ferguson or Mourinho to knit them together. Good players need good managers, great ones need great managers.

Will be interesting to see if Robinho makes the impact he should.

CunningStunt 09-04-2008 02:49 AM

Man City will finish 7th at best this year. Anyone care to wager $100? I'll take you up. Buy all the stars you want, putting them into shape is another thing.

Suede2 09-04-2008 03:19 AM

I'd be tempted to take that bet... But I'm not going to as I kind of want them to do better than that as the top4 needs shaking up. Whatever happens, It's a good thing the Thaksin Shinatawara (spelling?) isn't there as he was (allegedly) dodgy as hell. Hughes is a half decent manager and I reckon once the team gel they will be a good team, it just depends on how long it takes to gel.

Robinho will stay until the end of the season then try and move again because Man City are not comparable to Real Madrid, Chelsea, Man U, Barcelona etc.. Money or not it comes down to the size of the club of the years and Man City have never been feared or a force in Europe. Domestically in the next 5 years they'll do well. Unfortunately it will take 5 years for them to do well in Europe as Chelsea have proved. They've made 2 CL semi final (I think) in 5 years and tanked, 1 final and tanked (well Terry did) again.

mrwilson 09-04-2008 03:41 AM

Money dont make a good team.

He can go ahead and buy all the top players, he could have a 11 of the worlds top players on the pitch it dont mean they will be anything special.

It depends how well they work together as a team.

As a football fan do you honestly feel this is good for the sport?

Football changed into a business a long, long time ago.

I agree. United are years and years ahead of city in everything from manager to youth team. City will do well with Mark Hughes as manager and these billionaires money to play with. In my opinion the only team they could maybe move from the big four will be Arsenal. Out of the others Arsenal are the only ones who haven not spent big and lost some pretty good players.

We'll wait and see how it ends up, but it'll be interesting none the less.

Porno Dan 09-04-2008 07:57 PM

Mark my words they will be in the Champions League next year
