Weird food combos you enjoy

My husband thinks I am really weird for putting potato chips in my sandwiches but to me that is just normal. My dad has to be the king of weird combos for me. I have clear childhood memories of him having peanut butter and jalapeņo sandwiches and the family legend of peanut butter and miracle whip sandwiches.

Do you have any combos that you enjoy but others think you are nuts for eating?

Choclate (Cadrys Dairy Milk) and Crisps (Ready salted) at ther same time, while drinking milk !

mona 09-03-2008 05:53 AM

Rice and ketchup is really really good!

Suede2 09-03-2008 05:57 AM

Ages ago I saw chocolate covered crisps on sale. I can sort of see it working because chocolate covered pretzels work well and really it is a similar combo of salt and chocolate.

English pancakes are basically crepes ..translating for Americans.

I have seen savory dishes using those pancakes but not sure about the Worcestershire and sugar thing. It could be a bit sweet and sour though, I guess.

mayonnaise or A-1 on my hot dogs...

teenfeetcash 09-03-2008 07:29 AM

Roast chicken with horseradish sauce and cranberry sauced mixed together, very yummy!

HorseShit 09-03-2008 07:34 AM

my gf loves chips in her sandwiches

~Ray 09-03-2008 07:42 AM

I can't think of any.. however, Lea and Perrins Worcestershire Sauce with sugar sounds :throwup

:)

pornguy 09-03-2008 07:47 AM

Rice with Mayo or a good ranch dressing, and I LOVE French Toast with peanut butter and syrup.

tranza 09-03-2008 07:53 AM

Ice cream and french fries!!!

Peanut butter and jalapeņo sandwiches are perfectly normal, and delicious.

My sister went through a phase of putting ranch on everything.

JayDeeZee 09-03-2008 07:58 AM

I tried Peanut butter on a hotdog this weekend. It was pretty good.

Dollarmansteve 09-03-2008 08:02 AM

Bagel or toast with peanut butter and old cheddar.

DamianJ 09-03-2008 08:17 AM

The might Calypso from Burger Off in Hove, in the UK. It's a burger with peanut butter, banana and pineapple on it. And it SO WORKS.

Honest.

LauraLee 09-03-2008 08:24 AM

Offhand I can't think of any weird combos I partake in, but I have a good friend who loves cottage cheese with hot sauce.

My husband has been seen to do cottage cheese and jalapeņos.

Cyndalie 09-03-2008 08:29 AM

I love peanut butter on french toast and pancakes with butter and syrup!

Z 09-03-2008 08:37 AM

I eat peanut butter, mayo and banana sandwiches all the time (Elvis' favorite) and I put french fries on my burgers and potato chips in my lunch meat sandwiches.

Paco, of Large Cash. 09-03-2008 08:45 AM

sprinkle Glossete almonds or peanuts over lightly salted (unbuttered) popcorn which is still hot or warm, allowing the chocolate and popcorn to become one.

Suede2 09-03-2008 08:51 AM

TO be fair everyone I've managed to convince to try sugar and worcestershire sauce have actually quite enjoyed it. But yes it sounds gross, and it's only good if you have a light sprinkle of both. You really don't want to drown it because the sauce can be quite overpowering...

Honestly, try it and you'll love it. Assuming you like worcestershire sauce anyway..

CaptainHowdy 09-03-2008 09:10 AM

Honey Chicken Sandwich ...

Tom_PM 09-03-2008 09:17 AM

Peanut butter on nice hot waffles is great.

As kids we used to make toast and dip it in hot chocolate. It's really good, and sure go ahead and butter the toast. Just dip quickly or you'll have a mess in your mug.

SykkBoy 09-03-2008 09:32 AM

peanut butter and mayo sammiches...
good stuff

I used to do that all the time, and I passed it along to my kids. I know for fact my daughter still enjoys those.

I like a bag of salted peanuts poured into a bottle of Dr Pepper. And I dip Oreo's into my scotch.

I have never tried that but have seen it done and I bet it tastes good. I might have to try it next time I have a cheat day and have cinema popcorn.

Try it with miracle whip. I could never even think of it these days but I had a few with my dad when I was really young and the extra sweetness in miracle whip added something to the heart stopper of a sandwich.

qxm 09-03-2008 09:43 AM

OK .. here I go.... avocado with sugar......

Pizza with Milk instead of soda...........

I am pretty sure Cyn was suggesting it was the peanut butter she puts on top of that combo that is unusual.

PurrrsianPussyKat 09-03-2008 09:47 AM

Cool ranch doritos and whipped cream cheese. It's something I started in high school.

Haven't had that in ages.

Miss Munki 09-03-2008 10:03 AM

When I was a kid I used to love peanut butter & Frito Lay chips on a sandwhich:thumbsup

Before the days of In & Out's animal style french fries, I used to like their fries on my burger.

I also like avocado toast; avocado mixed with a little mayonaise (plus salt & pepper), spread over toast...it looks weird with a light green spread, but very yummy!

And finally, ketchup (plus salt & pepper) on tomatoes for a little extra flavor kick:)

Kudles 09-03-2008 10:35 AM

Miracle whip and peanut butter sandwiches. I know disgusting to most but so good to me!!

Ross 09-03-2008 10:38 AM

An old friend of mines dad used to put Tomato sauce on everything. He would order a chinese chicken curry and then cover it in ketchup. No matter what he had, he coated it in Ketchup. It was disgusting. They went through several bottles per week in the household.

firecracker 09-03-2008 10:50 AM

I love Doritos on any sub sandwich, adds crunch and cheese flavor (or Ranch) YUM!

gornyhuy 09-03-2008 11:03 AM

Apple Sauce on the side of any tomato sauce pasta dish. When the apple sauce mixes in with the tomato sauce its gooooooood.

Strickie 09-03-2008 11:12 AM

Not too crazy, but I like fried chicken and maple syrup

Scotty.T 09-03-2008 11:20 AM

pizza - deep fried :)

or probably one of my all time favourites

Bubble and Squeek (which is boiled cabbage and potato, mashed together, then fried) all smothered in loads of Heinz salad cream

webmasterchecks 09-03-2008 11:24 AM

Kielbasa, raw garlic, and crackers. mmm

I knew you were Scottish from the first line..lol

bubble and squeak is a much underrated British classic and since it uses up leftovers rather than wastes food I really think it deserves a come back

Brujah 09-03-2008 11:29 AM

Probably not too strange. French fries with mayo. Eggs on pancakes. Pineapple slice and worcestire on a turkey burger. A hotdog & refried beans wrapped in a tortilla. Syrup & butter mixed, eaten on crackers. Corn mixed with mashed potatoes. Cottage cheese with black olives.

atom 09-03-2008 11:31 AM

Summer sausage, grape jelly, american cheese on wonder bread. the salt of the summer sausage mixes perfectly with sweetness from the grape jelly :)

My house has been known to see cold pizza dipped in either ranch dressing or BBQ sauce.

GrouchyAdmin 09-03-2008 12:00 PM

Hot cracklins and chocolate milk. Ok, that was 15 years ago; I can't drink milk anymore. :(
