I'm socially liberal (as I'd imagine most people who work in this industry are) and do believe it's better for the long term development of the country. I'm not exactly sure how liberalism is to blame for MTV. Nor why giving women rights is somehow dumbing down our country (I feel the opposite in fact). I'm also not sure on what you mean by attitudes toward alcohol and drugs. Deaths by both per capita are higher in red states by nature.
It's always open to debate what is best for the education of our children. It is no secret though that the blue states have a higher IQ per capita as well as larger median incomes. The red states are the ones that are near the bottom of the country in educational statistics and highest in poverty.
My biggest issue is that of teaching religion in schools. Countries like China and India are pumping out scientists and engineers at much higher rates than us. We won't be able to compete for long in a global economy teaching our kids fairy tales in school while others learn real science.
