When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross.
When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross.
By MikeSouth Sinclair Lewis said, ?When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross.? When I look at what is happening to people who exercise their constitutional rights at the party conventions, frankly it scares me. Free Speech zones? I thought AMERICA is a Free Speech zone. What has happened to us? We have been led by our government to believe that it grants us these rights and can therefor revoke them? The Consitution expressly forbids the government from doing exactly that, why aren?t we standing up to these people? By George Bush?s and this governments standards every one of our founding fathers would be a ?terrorist? today and as such they would be jailed, with none of the rights gauranteed them by the very Constitution they framed. How have we let this happen? ? Naturally the common people don?t want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.? ~ Hermann Goering If that doesn?t send a chill up your spine?.oh wait? This is America we haven?t got a spine anymore. |

Just because you have the right to free speech it does not mean you have the right to interrupt me while I am exercising my right to free speech.

I think in all honesty that political discourse is good, its proof that the system works.
shouting louder so that people cant hear the other guy means that you are unsure of your position, therefor you dont want the other position to be heard. The guy guy trying to squelch the free speech of the other guy cant make a good enough case to persuade the people he is of the correct view. Listen to Sean Hannity and you hear this being done daily. The intelligent among us see this for what it is, simply a diversionary tactic used by one side or the other to prevent the other guy from making a point because that guy doing the disrupting isnt confident enough that his point is superior. Sadly in these days of combative talk radio it has all devolved to Jerry Springer-esque tactics. Nobody thinks anymore, they simply react. Someone please point me Galt's Gulch would ya? |
I'm hungry
By GigoloShawn I'm hungry. No shit. I'm not going to force my opinion on you because I think I'm smarter than you; I'm not here to try to sway you or belittle you no matter how much you may deserve it; I'm here to make you money. I want some tacos. I'm hungry. |
