what a stupid move mccain did

at first i thought it was a stunning play, get a woman on the ticket, but looks like it was done too hasty, and we are only 1 week into it, wait til they are able to get some of the real dirtout of her. this may be crippling

looks like they spent 1 day researching her? if that are not saying it directly, its certainly what things are pointing to.

Among other less attention-grabbing news of the day: it was learned that Ms. Palin now has a private lawyer in a legislative ethics investigation in Alaska into whether she abused her power in dismissing the state?s public safety commissioner; that she was a member for two years in the 1990s of the Alaska Independence Party, which has at times sought a vote on whether the state should secede; and that Mr. Palin was arrested 22 years ago on a drunken-driving charge.

A Republican with ties to the campaign said the team assigned to vet Ms. Palin in Alaska had not arrived there until Thursday, a day before Mr. McCain stunned the political world with his vice-presidential choice.

they must understand the need to look under every rock before they commit to somebody? you cant do this over

?They didn?t seriously consider her until four or five days from the time she was picked, before she was asked, maybe the Thursday or Friday before,? said a Republican close to the campaign. ?This was really kind of rushed at the end, because John didn?t get what he wanted. He wanted to do Joe or Ridge.?

The 22 yr old dwi of the husband is pretty lame to bring up though.

Was she suposed to divorce him over it or something?

"As word leaked out that Mr. McCain was seriously considering the men (Mr. Ridge or Mr. Lieberman), the campaign was bombarded by outrage from influential conservatives who predicted an explosive floor fight at the convention and vowed rejection of Mr. Ridge or Mr. Lieberman by the delegates.

Perhaps more important, several Republicans said, Mr. McCain was getting advice that if he did not do something to shake up the race, his campaign would be stuck on a potentially losing trajectory.

With time running out ? and as Mr. McCain discarded two safer choices, Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota and former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, as too predictable ? he turned to Ms. Palin. He had his first face-to-face interview with her on Thursday and offered her the job moments later. "

It's Politics, if you get yourself into the spotlight you best damn sure they'll dig up ALL the dirt on you.

Extremists on both parties are guilty of exposing this kind of dirt.

Don't you know you aren't supposed to believe anything the NYT prints? Haven't you been listening to the talking points... um I mean serious discussion based on logic... that the right has been talking about?

He should have gone with Lieberman.

I am not an Obama supporter by any means but seeing McCain in action it's obvious the guy isn't too bright. Hard working yes, a hustler yes, a dirty politician yes but definitely not a thinker.

Rochard 09-02-2008 08:55 AM

I always thought that when they vetted someone it was a two or three month process???

Seems not to be the case.

However, some of the crap that are digging up has no bearing on anything. Her husband had a DUI twenty-two years ago. They are painting it like a bad thing, but he hasn't gotten one in the past twenty-two years so it seems he had a problem and then moved forward.

Steven Colbert would have been a much better choice if he really wanted to bring out the Shock! factor to his campaign ..

I love hearing these right wing pussies cry about this bitch being called out. Fucking swift boat fags are far worse and just because they are getting their asses handed to them in this election they want to cry foul. This is the best election in history!

Wingnuts would have stayed at home, other right-wingers would have reluctantly voted for the "lesser of two evils". Blue-collar, conservative, independent moderates would have gone for them all the way.

You do realize that on the Republican side, it's people like you that supported the swiftboat campaign, right?
