how do trial and recurring payments work?

as i understand if surfer joins trial he would have access only till trial would not be canceled? i mean that when after signing on 3 days trial he cancels it (e.g. on the next day), then the access to paysite would be closed too?

do recurring payments work the same? or user can cancel recurring and access would be closed only at the end of sign up period?

with down load it all programs Im not hot on trials.

If the trial member cancells before the trial period is over they get the full trial experience. If the trial is for 3 days and they cancel 30 minutes after joining the trial they still get the full 3 days.

If they wait until the 4th day they get billed as a full member AND they get access until that paid period ends.

There are ways around that...

I'd avoid trials. They will download your content and be gone.

I try to avoid trials except in case I'm on PPS..
But there are full and limited trials...
Full trials give full access to the site while limited limits user access to content...

Trials usually access to a smaller version of the site, hence the trial, and then you have upgrades in there, or it upgrades automatically to the full site after the trial period. These way you don't have people ripping your whole site for $2.95.

Some people do trials to the full site, but, that's not really a good idea for most sites.

Trials turn into full recurring memberships if not cancelled.

that is way to prevent those trial => download and run members!
