although i wish no loss of life, i am hoping that the levees fail again just to prove that the govt (dems & repubs) are a bunch of fucking idiots..

one day i hope that people wake up and start to take back the country that has been stolen from them... :2 cents:

What exactly did you expect the govt to do about New Orleans after the last storm? Not rebuild it?

The Govt had to rebuild it plane and simple, it's a no win situation. Was it dumb to rebuild? Well yea of course it is..However had the US govt said fuck that shit we aren't using any tax dollars to rebuild New Orleans, the blacks would have screamed racism. Big business would have shit bricks and screamed and yelled. Even the average everyday home or business owner would have screamed and yelled.

you think all the properity owners or people who lived in NO prior to the storm would have went along with the govt not backing a rebuild?

thats not what i meant... the govt could have rebuilt the levees for $50 mill to withstand cat 5 hurricane.. they chose not to..

most of the damge from katrina was caused by flooding after the levees broke, not the hurricane..

the cost of the flooding was in the billions...

i saw in the news last week where the levees have been rebuilt using the same failed procedures that caused the levees to break during katrina..

my point is, the govt doesnt seem to have the capacity to learn from mistake after mistake and the populas lets them (govt) get away with it everytime...

when will enough be enough?

marketsmart 08-31-2008 03:39 AM

and btw, dont even get me started on how the taxpayers dollars and donations were spent on overpriced contractors and govt contracts and 3 years later N/O is hardly better off than immediately following katrina...

"NEW ORLEANS - Just three years after Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans confronts a new threat from Gustav and a stark question: Will the partially rebuilt levees hold?

Despite $2 billion in improvements, including 220 miles of repaired, raised and replaced floodwalls, 17 new pump stations and more flood-resistant pump stations, nobody can say for sure the city won't be swamped again. And if it is, could it ever recover?"

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26444204/

They didnt even fully rebuild the main defense against preventing this from happening again and they had 3 years to do it.

edit..I was responding to crockett

Nothing humans can build is able to resist Mother Nature.
Sometimes we have to understand that we are just visitors on this planet.
We do now own this planet. Planet Earth owns us.

Instead of writing bullshit blaming the Government, just hope that not too many people die. :2 cents::2 cents:
