Broke the ice with the family - California in sight
 

I knew I wouldn't be down here long, but after hurricane katrina I vowed to come down here and help not just my family, but friends and neighbors rebuild and get my hometown region of Southeast Louisiana a helping hand and do my two cents worth of helping our country back on its feet.

Well, its been two years. It's been a lot of fun, a lot of pain but yesterday I broke the ice and mentioned we may in fact be thinking about moving back to California.

Without hesitation, my mom responded "if thats where you want to go baby, you do it."

The same words she told me when I left home when I was 20, not even legal drinking age and I was leaving home with a box and a bag.

32 now, and can't wait to get back.

Iam thinking about Barbados these days, but i dont have the balls right now for another move. Just moved to AMS, so it may take some time for me to make my next move.

Given the choice, I think I'd live in CA too. I'm a horror movie nut so I'd get a kick out of living where most of the best have been filmed.

rad! What part of cali?

We will probably be in the Pasadena area for a little while, if the plans go right. We are still in the early planning stage with the details.

It could be for 2 years, or 5, then we will be heading north. And we're not 100% just where yet, so living back in So Cal makes it easier to get up there and figure that part out. :)

And we'll be back in LA for a while for industry stuff, which is cool. Before we head up to hippie land anyhow. :1orglaugh

and fuck, its been sooo long since I've had someone say "RAD" to me! hahaha yay

I have to make sure my Cali lingo is up to date now.

I am going to make a special effort to say these things more often, even if people down here think I sound nuts.

My reasons for moving are because the south sucks assholes. Medical marijuana aside, fuck this place. There are opportunities for shit, and everyone thinks their life is worse than yours.

I can't live in this mindset, its killing me. I traveled to Cali earlier this year and found myself sitting in a room with people talking about books. BOOKS! I'll be back. :1orglaugh

yeah I wasn't being truthful about my reasons. truth is, i am seeking a better life for me and he family I hope to start in the future. i can joke all I want about medical marijuana, but that is not a real reason. Having lived in california for a good while, I didnt realize all the things I would miss and come to know as reality. you move away from those realities long enough and it starts to make you wonder why you left.

i came down to spend some much overdue time with family, now I think its time for me to venture out and posibly start my own...

Your mom sounds like a good lady, I called mine up last week and said "I think I may move to California, and she said the same 'If thats what you wanna do baby, do it, it just gives me a reason to come to California'" and you know what, I was blown away, because she cried her eyes out when I told her I was moving an hour and a half away from her... here in Iowa.. haha.

Nice... It will be a hell of a homecoming. Think how much more you'll appreciate it out there now.
