Had to go to the dealership to get a service done on the Charger. Turns out they had a couple Challengers there.

Sat down with sales guy, who quickly escalated it up the food chain. They were making deals left and right. Before I would sign anything, I had to drive it.

It would make a great second car, but with 4 bikes and a car, do I really need a second car? Not really.

Then they offered me a great deal on a new SRT Charger, but the color was so ugly, all I could do is laugh.

I am disappointed. I really like the looks of the Challenger, and it was fun to drive, but it just won't work. :(

How much did they want for the Challenger?

Well, they had two. The black one was 10 over MSRP and the orange one (I wanted) was 15 over.

So, around $56k.

I did LOL literally when they directed my attention to it.

Nope. That would be an additional fee. They called the markup a "market demand" cost. There is also a "gas guzzler tax" of some sort.

Lifetime powertrain warranty on most Chrysler vehicles now. Beats anything foreign that I have seen.

I wonder if that varies by state to state. There is an orange one on ebay right now with a buy it now price of $46,985. Orange with racing stripe.

I did get to take the Challenger on a test drive. He got a little nervous when I headed for the freeway saying, "we aren't supposed to go on the freeway, but I guess if you are buying it, no one will know."

It made it a little difficult to maneuver at times due to a couple guys that wanted to get a closer look.

The 2009 has more color options. I have a blue with metallic flake on pre-order. The classic B5 blue doesn't come out until later, unfortunately. I got the R/T with the 5.7L Hemi for MSRP.

There's an orange 2008 SRT8 that cruises around town, I like the looks of it.

Actually, I told him to paint it fire engine red and tint the windows and I would buy it. He said, "with the money you are saving you can do that yourself."

He even offered to throw in the LoJack. I think they really wanted to make a sale.

When I bought my Charger I went to the dealer that I had done the test drive at. They had sold all their black ones, and offered me a blue one that they said was so dark, no one would notice.

oh ya.. it sure does. My computer is right by the window and my window is always open so I hear it and see if every time it comes by and it always gets my attention. I'd love to get my hands on one.

They are pretty fun, but I know I would have to increase my travel schedule to help keep the number of tickets down.

I know how you feel - but dont worry everything happens for a reason. I almost bought a pre-owned porsche a couple years ago but the dealership fucked up and I walked away.

I ended up getting a new 2006 G35 for half the price and i am glad I did. I bet the next car you get you'll look back and be glad this happened. :thumbsup
