I'm beginning to think that this sort of thing happens more often than we knew about, but, once the media figured out that the topic caused people to watch the news, they started focusing on this issue, which makes it now seem like it's happening more frequently.

exactly,, when i was going to high school there was a school shooting and couple people died, and the news never went beyond the county,i guess during the time it wasn't newsworthy,

sad to say it started to become major news once a so called prestigious rich school had a violent shooting
