daily check of 10k sites

now we are working on our solution to check availability of each site, but we're still experiencing ~30% of false positive.

is there any service that can do this perfect?

You own 10k sites?

MrDeiz 08-28-2008 09:19 AM

no, i don't )

When I was running my 11.500 TGPs network I had a single server hosted on different datacenter only for checking if some sites were down.

It's relatively easy to make such a system... but of course you need to know how. Putting all the sites into a big array/database and check them in bulk every 5 minutes is not a good solution and you are very lucky if you get only 30% false positives that way.

Why do you need to check?

x-rate 08-28-2008 12:30 PM

This script should do the job:

HomerSimpson 08-28-2008 01:06 PM

You probably want to run ping on cron and pipe the output.

Evil E 08-29-2008 06:52 PM

I was thinking of nagios, but that's a lot of sites, you'd have to check it out.

MrDeiz 08-29-2008 07:39 PM

i just wondering maybe someone knows any existing quality script or service that can do that
