I guess I will have to replace it myself, because the distributor I bought it from is just as competent as the manufacturer's support team :)

The drive(s) inside the box is most likely made by seagate, western digital, maxtor (now seagate), hitachi, or samsung. You can find the serial number on the drive then contact the manufacturer and let them know the drive isn't working correctly. They should give you a RMA# so you can get another one from them. That way you don't have to go buy a new one.

LOL yes but I dont want to deal with Samsung Hitachi or whatever. It's either the supid distributor I got it from or the manufacturer who has to replace that harddisk.
I guess I will send it back to the distributor and get my money back. Thank you European Union where the online-distributor is forced to take back the product within two weeks.

OK the distributor will take it back and send me a new one.

All that hassle for saving a couple of bucks...
