Snowboarding in the US

After coming InterNext in Vegas me and the wife want to go
Snowboarding somewhere in the US. Where should we go....
which hotel should we stay, etc, etc

We are both beginners.....meaning...we can come down a slope
without too much hassle but nothing fancy...I just started
boarding....so still learning...I am however a skilled skier.

We plan to leave Vegas on the 9th of January.

Ok thanks for the tips.

probably the most popular would be Vail, Co, but if you're in vegas, you could go to Lake Tahoe, Ca. Vail is usually very crowded but definately one of the bigger mountains. If you want a small ski town atmosphere, Crested Butte, Co is very nice and has an airport that most of the major airlines fly to.

Tahoe, would be the closest to vegas.

Aren't Mammoth and Kirkwood quite a bit less driving time? I'm assuming he'd be coming up 395.

Go to Tahoe... best snow in the U.S. and you can drink and gamble 24 hours a day on the Nevada side. Quite a bit cheaper then Vail too.

i guess it depends if you are going to fly from Vegas to one of the ski resorts or drive. If you are driving a car out of Vegas, then Mammoth Mountain is the closest place.

If you will be flying out of Vegas, I would suggest South Lake Tahoe. Heavenly ski resort is huge, has lots of rental equipment and great nightlife - gambling! Last time in Tahoe, I paid for my trip at the blackjack table.

The resorts in Colorado are also great. The snow is typically less wet, more powdery that the snow in Tahoe (although last year there was serious pow pow in tahoe!). If you decide on Colorado, I would advise against flying into Denver. It's a 2 hour drive, at least, to the slopes. There are a few airports up in the mountains, close to the resorts.

I hope all that rambling didn't confuse you. i can send you some links that might help. ICQ me if you want.
