Study: Two Eggs a Day Cuts Cholesterol AND LOSE WEIGHT?????

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,410509,00.html

Medical experts have long thought that by eating large amounts of cholesterol-rich foods such as eggs, a person could easily increase their cholesterol levels.

However, an upcoming article in the European Journal of Nutrition will suggest otherwise.

Dr. Bruce Griffin, who led the study, fed 50 overweight volunteers two eggs a day for four months.

Besides eating the eggs, the volunteers followed a reduced calorie diet.

A second group of volunteers ate the same reduced-calorie diet, but did not eat eggs. Both groups lost weight and saw a decrease in their cholesterol levels.

?There is no convincing evidence to link increased intake of dietary cholesterol or eggs with coronary heart disease,? Griffin said.?Indeed, eggs make a nutritional contribution to a healthy, calorie-restricted diet.?

Griffin thought that by eating eggs for breakfast, the volunteers felt fuller longer, which aided them in their weight loss efforts.

You'll notice it didn't say anything about the second group being overweight. The first group was probably used to McGriddles.

Every few weeks there's a story about how eggs are either good or bad for you.

it's been known for years that eggs in the diet actually help the healthy cholesterol levels, I've been eating them every day for a long time, and nothing better than a few raw eggs in a protein shake :thumbsup

its like old Dr atkins, the old guy was right.

Perhaps they meant "eating a breakfast of fried eggs, sausage, bacon and hashbrowns every morning will raise your cholesterol" not "eating eggs.... will raise your cholesterol."

Dr. JDL....

I remember back in the day when the suggested breakfast was 2 eggs, 2 sausages, bacon, etc. That shit will kill you these days.

Three things that people keep flipping on:
  • Global Warming
  • War
  • Eggs

In the end, though, the yolk's always on us.. like election day.

I eat boil eggs everyday, 3 eggs, 1 yolk..

egg is like 90 calories.. 15 without the yolk.

Studies like this are pretty shitty - so they replaced 2 egg mcmuffins, 2 doughnuts, and bacon with 2 eggs and a low calorie diet - of course they lost weight and cholesterol.

I'm getting sick of all of these food threads. I'm hungry. :(
