ATTN PROGRAMMERS: Add Private Messaging to a Website CMS?

I am trying to get a Website up as fast as possible for a friend.

I found Noah's Classifieds V8 which is a very simple PHP/CSS extremely customizable classifieds CMS.

Which will do exactly what I want and is pre-built and cheap as fuck.

Problem is it only does E-mail Contact. But for me private Messaging is a must.

So i'd like the Reply to Post to be changed into a Private Messaging Service..

I'm guessing it is possible for a programmer to add this feature.. But is it worth it??

Would I be better off with going with Drupal or Joomla??

Are you a programmer? How much would you want to do this and How long would it take?

I'm a big Joomla fan, so that would get my vote. There are components for all those features you just mentioned, so it would pretty much be plug and play.

That's what I figured.

Can you suggest a "classifieds/personals" type component?

That doesn't cost $300, extremely plain barebones simple and customizable?

Honestly I rather invest $300 into adding PMs to the Noah script and help that app get further along..

Ok fuckit I found Ads Manager which incorporates Joomla User Accounts and PMS..

I guess i'll just figure this out instead....

I hate how each one of these apps are missing 1 small detail that i'd like to have.. there's always something someone leaves out..

and it blows my mind how much $$ people want for these Joomla addons.. I rather spend a little more and have something custom programmed and it would be mine to own..
