Kimbo's next fight : Ken Shamrock

The world's most dangerous man, who lost his 5 last bouts, will face kimbo in a little more then 5 weeks.

marketsmart 08-25-2008 12:35 PM

sell hello to kimbo's first loss...

Lace 08-25-2008 12:36 PM

zzzzzzzz

HAPPYPEEKERS 08-25-2008 12:38 PM

If Ken can avoid being hit there is a chance he can get him in a hold

Jim_Gunn 08-25-2008 12:42 PM

Should be an interesting fight. I might have to go see the show live, it's being held close by here in South FL. Even though Kimbo is not a top 20 fighter, he's interesting to watch and good for the sport since he ropes in a lot of casual fans of MMA. This bout against a former champion (albeit way past his prime) with a certain degree of popularity is at least a step in the right direction to test Kimbo and see if he has developed his skills and if his cardio can hold out this time.

seeandsee 08-25-2008 12:51 PM

Kimbo is real animal, from first amateur fights in "friendly neighbor" yards...

Imortyl Pussycat 08-25-2008 12:56 PM

i hope kimbo pulls it off. i'm rooting for him

Sosa 08-25-2008 12:57 PM

blah shamrock just needs to stop

Pleasurepays 08-25-2008 12:59 PM

shamrock is an ass with no redeeming qualities. he needs to just let go.

but i guess if he's looking to go out with a bang (or a thud)... this is just as good a way as any

Jayvis 08-25-2008 01:13 PM

It'll be rigged just like all of Kimbo's other MMA fights.

Fucksakes 08-25-2008 01:14 PM

will we have a fair ref and shit this time?

Martin 08-25-2008 01:15 PM

Shamrock is going to get killed if you ask me. I think that dude took too many blows. He's half retarded now.

Bojangles 08-25-2008 01:16 PM

Shamrock is waaaaaaaay past his prime. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

I love the post fight press conference of that elitexc when gary shaw said James Thompson was rushed to the ER then the camera turned around and bam there's James... lol

Bomber8888 08-25-2008 01:37 PM

Shamrock is a fool.. he must need the cash to pay for his retardation.. but i guess its a step up for Kimbo

Ryan St. Germain 08-25-2008 01:51 PM

You've got to hand it to Ken Shamrock; he's showing absolute determination in ending his career with loses to some of the biggest names in MMA.

Manowar 08-25-2008 01:55 PM

kimbo will get taken out with groundwork probably

although he has been improving

mynameisjim 08-25-2008 02:06 PM

They're doing more harm than good with the way they are promoting Kimbo. At least Brock Lesner fought some experienced fighters who still had something left in the tank. Shamrock was depleted years ago.

This is what killed boxing and why MMA has grown so fast because they avoided these types of novelty bouts.

Who's he gonna fight next, Jose Conseco?

channel69content 08-25-2008 02:58 PM

LAME! I would much rather see him fight Tito or even Sean Gannon. Elite XE has no idea what they are doing.

What is it going to prove if he beats up an over the hill retired UFC fighter like Ken Shamrock. And if he loses, the Kimbo BUZZ will be over.

buyandsell 08-25-2008 03:00 PM

I dunno that old shamrock maybe old but he has a mean case of roid rage

Tito would kill Kimbo. They need to keep feeding him progressively tougher opponents but not too tough to kill the buzz. I think Kimbo will still be popular even if he loses a fight, as long as he doesn't get demolished.

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 08-25-2008 03:55 PM

I think it's a good choice for Kimbo's next fight in my opinion. yes Shamrock is getting to the point where his age is going to factor in big time, but he was and still is a skilled fighter with far more talent than anyone else Kimbo has seen. Just because the guy is old does not mean he cannot handle himself. Especially against a big striker with little cage experience. I really don't know which way to go with this one, but if I had to put money on it, i'd go with Shamrock winning on the ground.

Nicky 08-25-2008 04:43 PM

Ken is old but I'm pretty sure Kimbo will have a hard time with him unless the shit is staged or Kimbo has worked his ground game much more.

channel69content 08-25-2008 05:11 PM

Go back and watch Shamrocks last few fights. He is a shell of the fighter he once was. I understand they have to feed Kimbo sacrificial goats, but really? Ken Shamrock? My biggest gripe is with elite XE, you have a marketing darling with Kimbo, and they are just fucking it up. Is it any wonder they are operating at such enormous losses. At this pace elite XE has maybe 2 shows left before they fold it up.

I think that Elite XC is choosing well for Kimbo. Ken Shamrock is a big name and a decent fight for him. The bad reffing in Kimbo's last fight was a result of a hair trigger NJ Athletic Commission not Elite XC. Who else would you suggest for Kimbo's next opponent? Can't be someone too tough or he gets demolished or exposed for his lack of ground game and submitted.

C_U_Next_Tuesday 08-25-2008 05:41 PM

Kimbo is great.. I love to watch him....more people should get into the ring with him. I like how his facial expression goes blank as soon as he steps into the ring. You know he is about to kick ass.

I think Ken might get his ass kicked in this one.

GTS Mark 08-25-2008 06:45 PM

Is shamrock even in the same weight class as Kimbo?

notoldschool 08-25-2008 06:46 PM

Good fight for him. We will see how far Kimbo has come in a very short time of gassing against a lower teir apponant. Atleast its someone everyone knows because of the fights with Tito. Shamrock by some type of leg submission would be my guess. Something like lesnar vs. Mir

Bird 08-25-2008 06:49 PM

only way for Shamrock to win is with an Ankle Lock

hypedough 08-25-2008 07:55 PM

Wasn't EliteXC having $$$ troubles?

Ya, I think he used to fight light heavyweight in the UFC, but apparently he's up to heavyweight now.

He's also lost his last 5 fights, knocked out in every one in the very first round. He is washed up like Tank Abbott.

Sethseekstruth 08-25-2008 09:38 PM

seroiusly, how broke must shamrock be to be basically renting himself out as a punching bag

NickB. 08-25-2008 09:48 PM

curious to see whats going to happen this fight

I think we might be underestimating kimbo.... HomeBoy bas Rutten has been training him for months now

xxxdesign-net 08-25-2008 10:25 PM

Well.. the way I see it is EliteXC is a hybrid between WWE and UFC... Fights involving their top characters are not choreographed, but they are fixed... Frank Shamrock admitted he would ONLY stand with Cung Le... Thats like a boxer not using is jab, ofcourse you are going to lose... He is either a world class idiot or he is paid to throw the fight... From what i get, Brett Rogers really wants to win and cannot be bought... The other Shamrock whos career is over certainly can... Just saying :)

kane 08-26-2008 01:29 AM

Part of me thinks that Shamrock believes he can take Kimbo to the ground and submit him. I think he feels like if he kills the Kimbo buzz on his last fight he can retire on top, not as the guy who got destroyed by Tito. Shamrock is old and not near the fighter he once was, but he still knows how to make a guy tap. If he can avoid the fists and get Kimbo to the ground he has a shot.

Nishville 08-26-2008 02:04 AM

I thought he stepped down after that Tito Ortiz humiliation...

probably not broke, just cashing out while he still can

johnuk 08-26-2008 04:46 AM

Shamrocks last fight was here in the UK, he got knocked out by some bum who I can't even be bothered finding the name of. He looked awful and even though Kimbo is a pretty terrible MMA fighter he's going to kill Shamrock.

This fight will make everyone involved look bad

I doubt this guys is hurting in any way. He also owns a Martial Arts academy which is not doubt very popular. Funny how people forget this guy was one of the original warriors that put MMA on the map. How about a little respect. Nothing wrong with trying to make more money.

Jman 08-26-2008 07:11 AM

So in reality Kimbo will be fighting another chump... Seriously when is Kimbo going to grow some balls and fight a real Fighter????

Ken is past his prime but he is not a chump, he's a former champ with skills, albeit diminished skills. Kimbo is progressing in his career just fine. He barely has a couple of years training so he is not ready for top 20 competition yet. Hopefully Bas Rutten has gotten Kimbo to up his cardio and Kimbo has picked up some ground skills because without those two things, he isn't going to go much further in the sport after this fight even if he manages a win. No matter what happens, it's entertainment anyway.
