Fuckkkkk!!! Hdd Failure!
Well ... after a shitload of use one of my 350 GB HDD is making funny noises, my PC Freezes up and when it does the HDD disappears and reappears like if it was a newly installed device .:Oh crap:Oh crap.... I have a ton of security shit on my PC and stuff to monitor for spyware and shit so viruses and crapware are out of the question ....
Anyone knows of a good online back up service I can use? What HDD Backup method do you use? ...:helpme.. I am about to buy me this puppy to replace the one I am loosing.... http://www.memorylabs.net/seba721tbsts2.html ..the good thing is that it hasn't completely crashed.. I am still able to access the drive but ... it occasionally makes funny noises and goes down....:Oh crap |
I had the same problem mate, online backups are not a wise thing imo as there are server crashes and other drama to worry about, I brought a 1TB external HD problem solved cost just over $150 cheap and almost worry free.

If ya just load up HD Tune every once in a while you could check the health of your HDD. As long as the smart features work on your system which they probably do.
http://www.hdtune.com/ Although I guess it's a bit late for that now... I would turn the PC off, go buy a hdd and acronis http://www.acronis.com/ at some local store. Then hope the shit will still copy over... |
fuck that sucks...ive never had a HD fail on me
*knocks on wood* |

anyway it's time to hurry up

You might consider removing it from your machine; higher ambient heat won't help if it's already having issues.
Get one of these, or comparable. Stick the HD in a fairly airtight baggy, then put it into your freezer overnight. Take it out, hook it up to the external USB adaptor, and copy every damn thing you can off of it. while trying to keep it cooled. |
use getdataback.
|
Yeah they usually dont last very long once the noise comes... Remove and back it up ASAP.
My laptop drive just died. Has anyone here tried freezing a hard drive? Does that work for temporary function? Atleast that's what ive read... |
I've had so many hard drives fail that I no longer build a computer without a minimum of 2 drives (one mirroring the other). Hard drives are mechanical devices that have a finite lifespan....... the problem is you never know how long that's going to be. :winkwink:

once in a while I make DVD copies, my other PCs have one HD each but I don't care if they blow up, no important data there |

As far as I see it, the issue of cookies is kinda mute point. I mean, with a bigger program, with advertising all over the net, then the chance of a one year cookie being overitten are simply inevitable.
Per session cookies are not fair IMO. 3 Days at least, but then.. Who bookmarks? Year long cookies are more a promo 'come on' for newbie webmasters... But yeah, you want more than just 'per session' I agree with that... |

I just unplugged it and the computer is working fine ... ... I'll buy 2 1TB hdds to enable RAID1....U should think of doing something similar unless u don't have anything important on that drive .. |

one of the worst things that can happen.

I'm building a comp for my car, and I have to use mechanical based storage because I need a fair bit of it (and also because solid state costs $$$)
I'm using two different brand drives in a mirrored RAID1 array and hoping that neither of them succumb to vibration or jolts at the same time. :2 cents: :helpme |
Whoops... Just saw my post above !
Sorry... Wrong Thread ! :D |
