Best Alternative To Windows Media Player?
 

I have finally had enough of this piece of shit. The thing is slow and buggy as fuck. Who has an alternative they are happy with?

I forgot to mention this thing is also a resource hog.

VLC works pretty good. It's a little annoying though when you seek and it doesn't go back and get the I-frame. It just continues on using the old I-frame from where you were before you jumped.

I've been using BS Player for many years now. It's light weight and has great skins.

As priorly mentioned, Media Player Classic. If you install DefilerPak (old, I know), then update ffdshow, you're still able to watch 98.4% (or so) of content, and you don't have your whole system brainfucked with too many shitty old and unnecessary codecs.

I would be a little wary on x64, however. If you're x64, you're basically stuck with WiMP.

KMplayer, it includes all the necessary codecs, and it's based on mplayer engine.

would go with the mp classic + klite-codec pack ...

thats what I use... then tweak ffdshow for some upscaling goodness

VLC is the alternative to every other media player available.
It will player pretty much any weird format you can throw at it and available most OS's and there's need to mess around with downloading codec's :)
