What video compression to use for high quality streaming video?

Hi guys, wondering what video formats / compression methods you use to get the best quality (and decent quality/speed ratio) for streaming video? Quicktime, WMV, Flash? Any specific compression software that gets great results?

Thanks a lot for any input, I really appreciate it :thumbsup:thumbsup

You want tube sites to die off? Well step 1 is keeping content IN the members areas. There is a way to do this, and we do it. Stopping tube sites isn't done by keeping information important to our industry secret. :2 cents:

Yes but since it isnt supported via the adobe flash player yet its not much use for paysites without pissing people off lol.

GrouchyAdmin 08-22-2008 04:24 PM

It's a damn shame that you can't even do a realtime transcode of x264 reliably, yet.

Thanks for input! I have been using flash compressed videos but still trying to tweak the settings to get the best results. I haven't tried mp4 w/ h264 before, I'll let you know how it comes out. Thanks again.

H.264 High Profile, and tweak the shit out of it.

This is 720p @ 500Kbps: http://www.flashvideofactory.com/tes...H264_500K.html

If that is truely 500kbps then that is impressive no doubt. I do that quality but at around 1000 to 1500k

Same here. That one was made by Fabio Sonnati, the guy is an encoding god. You should see the 1080p version @ 1500kbps. Unreal.
