Do you sleep with a weapon by your bed?
 

I was making the bed the other day, and I realized we have a few weapons near the bed. A boot blade right on the nightstand, a really long baton looking thing that opens up to a really long knife, and a shotgun under the bed. I do not believe the gun is loaded, but the shells are ready to go.

I've heard of people sleeping with a loaded gun close by, I don't think I could do that. Then again, is a knife really going to help in case of an intruder? That was my thoughts.

I picture my 110 pound self with this huge blade trying to defend myself. :1orglaugh

I keep a loaded walther p99 in my bedside table. Hopefully never have to use it though.

I have a hunting knife handy, although I never consciously thought about putting it there for defense.

I also keep a Pu-36 explosive space modulator under my pillow but that's mostly for kinky stuff.

I do not own a gun but I do sleep with a screwdriver in hands reach. It will probabally never help me but it's the comfort of knowing it is there

I have a 357 Magnum under the bed. I hope I never need to use it and I really don't want to kill anyone. I lived in "suit case city" near USF while I was going to college in the early 90's and bought the gun for protection and never got rid of it.

nobody in norway has guns. I have never seen one in real life.

I keep one in my head board unloaded, with the rounds in a neat box next to it.

Sweet gun. I use to have one. I called it my baby canon. You gotta love revolvers. Now I keep a different gun in my night stand. I use to keep it loaded with one in the chamber but having kids changed that. Now I keep the gun and the clip in seperate places but close enought to where i can reach both at the same time

I sleep on a bed of nails, with a knife in my teeth.

It took some getting used to, but it does wonders for your posture and reflexes.

I've lived in dangerous places like Mexico City, Argentina, Colombia, etc. and never needed a weapon to defend myself..

I have a variety of loaded guns within easy reach most of the time, I also have a concealed carry permit.

a knife, a screwdriver, your fists or your cock are no match for a loaded gun.

Why do I carry a gun....simple because carry a cop is too cumbersome and when seconds count the cops are only minutes away....

I slept with a pistol on my headboard for years when I lived in the US. Usually one there and others in different places throughout the house.

Now I have a large, teak club by the bed and a machete between the mattresses.

an alarm system and a 50 lb pit mix who is very protective of me. :)

I have my iphone near the bed...if an intruder comes in, I'll distract him with useless apps....

I have a sword mounted over my bed, but would probably just injure myself getting it down if I chose to use it as a weapon...

I have a 38 that a friend of mine rigged up with a holder to my bed. Since my bedroom is a loft and I have a small house, even a really really crappy aim will hit its mark :) There's also a 22 rifle in there right now so if the 6 bullets don't stop them, I have back up!

Thankfully I still have 2 pugs who can still hear and will alert me to someone/something coming into the door. Getting into my room any other way would be physically impossible (plus even *I* would hear that since it would involve ladders and rock climbing equipment).

C'mon, all this talking about guns, are those guys serious ?

It's somehow hard to an average European (not a criminal guy) to imagine the need to sleep with a gun under the bed, holy shit.

Is this the reallity of US ? Or you guys are just kidding ?

Sleeping with fear, that's not good for your health for sure. :(
