HELP!!!! I Did Something Real Dumb!!!
 

i just did something very very stupid
i had this massive excel document workbook
and i saved something else to that document's name
now
all my original work is gone, replaced with shit that should have been saved as something else...
what do i do?????

No it is not....
And to compound the problem, the doc that i accidentally saved was a text doc that I saved in the excel file.

you might be able to bring it back with a restore (xp), or with time machine (osx)...
google "Windows XP System Restore Guide" -- there's a nice guide from "bleepingcomputer".

Okay, maybe silly question .... but have you tried opening excel, going to the file menu, and looking in your windows temp directory for any excel related temps?

ive done this myself before and it sucks.

but i think there is a way to recover it from the temp file directory if you have autosave enabled. im not 100% sure how to do it but i read about it after
