AFF - IRS Tax Forms

Do I have to fill out an IRS tax form even though I dont live in the United States?

I dont understand, and I have tried contacting my rep with no luck

please explain

nnweb 08-20-2008 10:31 PM

if you are a US citizen I think you do (even if living outside the US).

if not - then no.

Evil-Dan 08-21-2008 08:49 PM

hello AFF - any help here please?

Altheon 08-21-2008 08:56 PM

If you are a US citizen then yes you have to fill out a W-9 and pay all applicable taxes. If you are a foreign citizen then you are in an enviable position to tell the IRS to GFY. :)

Why?
It is not like we US programs have a choice. We are required to hit the forms for everyone. Sorry it takes a few minutes of your time and all. Yes we know it means shit on your end and that you are not required to pay taxes if you are indeed not a US citizen living outside the US. Though damn us for doing the right thing.

Maybe I can pretend to have 90% of my affiliates be outside of the US and responsible for 95% of all of the sites income. Then perhaps the IRS will be ok with no paperwork proving this and just allow me to keep all that income that I stated I paid out to those affiliates.

Fuck the IRS. Don't blame aff programs. :)

SPONSORS ARE NOT REQUIRED BY LAW TO ASK FOREIGN WEBMASTERS TO FILL A W-8

Spread the mother fucking words !

Now people, be aware of what you sign and what infos you send around the globe, ex: Epass
Don't come whine and bitch if you get ass fucked. It's personal informations.

AFF - Please reply

I am getting worried about AFF and whether or not they even want to bother talking to their affiliates. I tired contacting them directly first before putting up this post. And they still cant find it in themselves to reply

AFF - Please explain?

RTFF... if your not a US citizen then the form means shit.

if they want you to fill it out then do it. your not getting taxed in the US if you are not a citizen.

Evil-Dan 08-22-2008 03:01 PM

thanks everyone for your thoughts and feedback on whether or not AFF has the right to ask for a form to be filled out.

I want AFF to advise what is required of me

It is simple if your not a US citizen living outside the US and get such a form, just fill in the info you can and send it back. You are not required to pay the IRS taxes, you have no obligation to them what so ever.

For a US affiliate company we must have proof on hand that we sent the proper forms to these people regardless of the location. We do not want the IRS asking for these from us, if it reaches that point it has already gotten ugly.

Yes some sponsors will not pay until people send in the forms regardless of the location.

bump for a replay from Team AFF

i guess they will read this on Monday

Tjeezers 08-24-2008 06:29 AM

Anyway, the message on Streamray with request of those forms is not on the page anymore.

All a foreign affiliate is required to do in that case is send you an email in which he states that he is not a US citizen and does not have any US activities.
Print out the email, file it and you're done. Requiring the foreign affiliate to fill out the form and send/fax it back is BS.

u-Bob 08-24-2008 01:01 PM

from another thread:

All that is required is that the foreign affiliate CERTIFIES they do not have any US-SOURCED income and are not a US Taxpayer, etc.

Google has it SPOT ON, on their Adsense tax information page:

https://www.google.com/adsense/taxinfo

Quote:

Non U.S. Business (No U.S. Activities )

United States (U.S.) Activities involve having employees or owning equipment in the U.S. that are involved in any way with revenue earned through the AdSense programme. This includes, but is not limited to, owning a web server or owning a hosting service in the U.S., or having employees in the U.S. who are involved in either:

* setting up a web server, hosting service, or website
* developing content for your website
* marketing to create a user base for your site
* telephone support for your site
* buying products for your site
* maintaining your site

Generally, utilizing an unrelated third-party U.S. web hosting service to host your web pages, renting web servers that are located in the U.S. from an unrelated third party, or having your payment sent to a U.S. Post Office Box or mail forwarding address, do not of themselves constitute U.S. Activities.

If you do not have U.S. Activities, you will be asked to agree to a statement to that effect. No tax forms are required in this instance.

the feedback from a major company in our industry is deafening in its silence

I just want to know what I am supposed to do with AFF asking me to fill out US government forms as a non US resident

why are we being asked to fill out forms that disclose our identity to the US government?

Surely the idea of giving my personal information to the US government is not such cool idea when you think about the times I might want to visit the United States to attend a show

As a non US citizen, i have no rights as to how the US government uses my information

So AFF - Please advise - do I need to fill in the IRS forms you provided to keep getting paid by you?
