and it would be safe to say that 90% of them would be really excited to make $10 a month on the internet and if someone posted that they had their first $10 month, another dozen of them would post congrats and ask for advice on how they did it
and it is a pretty true generalization that almost all of them don't know or care about copyright

the comments there almost made me want to sell my hog, so much whining and people spelling shit chit or asshole a$$hole.
not to mention the mods had serious mod power egos

i think the group dynamics on all forums are basically identical. same personalities, similar ratios of idiots to wise people... they all have a Pimpdog and Amp or two... similar ranting, pissing, do-gooders etc etc etc
very few are places where people stay on topic and have intelligent conversations.Comment

There are some boards, mainstream and adult online, that vary where you have more of the vets and less bullshit. Typically those are run with an iron fist.
DP is a good example where you have the regime keeping things in line. People can report countless things, and they are pretty good are monitoring it. I too got a temp ban in the beginning, but it's just a matter of figuring out the dynamics.
That said, you have a LOT more fucking clueless idiots on some of these boards, and a SHITLOAD more scams, and scammers. I mean, some of these boards are probably a good 1/4 easily scams. Half clueless idiots, and then you have a top tier of people who have...
1. Been around more than 6 months.
2. Make more than $50.00 a month.
3. Own REAL websites.
4. Are doing this full time.

I met the head mod of one board at a recent mainstream show. They initiated conversation with me so I let them know why I don't post there. She came back with an investigation that showed my history. The first time I registered there I lasted an hour and 20 minutes.
That is the primary issue . . . and any board that needs 47 mods has built in problems.Comment

i think there are a lot of factors and its often a question of degree.
i think that most large boards are very similar. of course smaller boards and boards that are heavily modded can be different and small boards with cliques of friends are different. but my experience is that in general, big forums with an assload of users tend to be the same... tend to be full of the same types of personalities, similar breakdowns in group dynamics and same useless crap, dumb people, dumb discussions, spam etc etc.Comment
