Not to mention the real campaigning has yet to begin. Hell I want to see those same fucked numbers after the debate.

Debates actually mean very little these days. I saw an article a little while back about the last presidential election. Kerry kicked Bush's ass in the first two debates and barely got a bump in the polls. I suppose if one guy really wipes the floor with the other it could help him but McCain still has a very big hill to climb he will need a lot more than a decent performance in a debate.
I think it is Obama. He has history on his side (one party has been in power for a while historically people want change). That he is black may be enough to actually motivate the far left into putting the bong down long enough to vote and McCain has little support within his part and fading support from the religous base of the party. Without them he cannot win and right now there are a handful of states that are traditionally very republican that are either now in play or leaning towards Obama. He will have to fight to hold some of his traditional stronghold states which will give him less money and time to fight in the battleground states.
All that said anything can happen. In the end the last election came down to some shenanigans in Ohio and the fact that a new Osama tape showed up a few weeks prior to the election and for some reason people decided Bush was the guy to better protect them. The same could happen here.
