Amsterdam was a really, really nice city

Not what I expected. I decided to give the red light area a miss, so that's probably why. But the streets were busy and clean, the staff were nice. everyone went about their own business and i had a really good time and really hope to go back. Everyone just seems so laid back and they just seem to have more common sense per person than any other nation over there.

those dam trams nearly ran me over though. What are your views like on that place? I bet it is very popular with adult webmasters

scottybuzz 08-19-2008 04:19 AM

Eindhoven is pretty nice too

ro8in 08-19-2008 04:23 AM

thank you :)

the thing is amsterdam people are just not so freaked out about things like the rest of the world.. There's things in the world people really go up into it amsterdam people couldn't care less. I think it must be the joints causing this hehehe

Went there last year for webmasters access. Instantly loved the place. I felt free for the very first time in my life. The people were very intelligent and hard working. I have to admit that I felt cheated by the school system here in the U.S. when talking to the Dutch (and most Europeans) because they are all fluent in so many languages. Meanwhile, back here in the U.S. they seem intent on dumbing us down. And I did hit the redlight district. It wasn't as clean as the parts of the city that you visited, but it was a lot cleaner than New Orleans circa 2000 was for instance. And to be as old a city as it is, I would have to say it was very clean.

Eindhovuuh de gekste! :thumbsup

I like Amsterdam too though, since it's well.. so different from where I live.

Though I'm not sure if I could live there.. things in the south are way more laid back than above the rivers :winkwink:

Amsterdam is a wonderful city, coming through the tunnel under the port from amsterdam north and seeing the old centre always gives me that Ah I'm home feeling, I would move back there in a second if the sun appeared for even a day between October and March. hehe.
Difficult city to live in workwise though, it kills my productivity.

I think they are also very good at languages due to the influence media and technology has, certain phrases from films etc are picked up on and used
