Wish I had that kind of stamina! I need at least 4 solid days to recover.

Shit times 2... but it was a lil worth it.

I think tonight is R&R TV time

Last night I witnessed punk rock history.

The Misfits are now comprised of Jerry Only on vocals, Marky RAMONE on drums, and Dez Cadena from Black Flag on guitar.

So not only do they tear through every one of my god damn favorite Misfits songs, but I also watched them perform a plethora of Ramones and Black Flag songs.

It was so sick I swear at times I had tears in my damn eyes.

It was history. I can die a happy man now.

Bobo 10-26-2002 05:11 PM

Sweet...

I like the Ramones...don't think I've heard Black Flag's stuff.

My idea of punk is Rancid. I love there shit like that song 'Salvation'. I have 3 of there albums but that's how far I've delved into punk thus far.

The first 2 Rancid albums were great. You like Operation Ivy?

Bobo 10-26-2002 05:16 PM

Damn, not familiar with that one. Can you recommend any punk material that you know I'll like?

Like I said, my idea of punk is very limited. I almost put Nirvana in the punk category and I know purists would spit on me for it. I love Nirvana.

For recommendations, give me the albums I'll love at first listen as well as forever.

When somebody asks me for a hip-hop album I tell them to get Snoop's Doggystyle disc. Why? 'Cause it's a good listen, nothing too deep, and I still like it. It's also one of those few albums that brought melody into rap.

Anything like that in punk? Not melody stuff...but hard shit that will kick in the car (the punk equivalent)?

Op Ivy is Rancid before they were Rancid. Cept more raw and ska-like.

Thats tough as I only know one "punk" band that you like.

Going off bands that are similar to Rancid, you are going to like the newer corporate punk type bands on Epitaph.

Just off the top of my head, you would probably like Offspring, Leftover Crack, Lars Frederickson and the Bastards (Lars from Rancid), Pennywise, Bad Religion, US Bombs. Not really my style of punk, but tons of other people seem to like it. More melodic and not so punk as to scare off 16 year old girls.

Offspring, yes...there early stuff. Nothing that they produce now is worth a listen.

That's fine though. Give me the meatiest punk out there. Stuff that's raw but quality. What would you consider a 'classic' punk album. An album that all white trash scum should own. I wanna get a listen to something like that.

Im surprised at how nice [LeBrat] is with you....

figured he would have teared through you like a blade through butter...

eh, I learn something every day...

and according to what you just said, listen to the eponymous album from Face to Face. I garantee you'll like it....

I dont ;p

OneHungLo 10-26-2002 05:43 PM

quiet 10-26-2002 05:44 PM

Hmmm white trash dont normally listen to punk and I am afraid you have already been tainted as to what exactly is "punk". To throw you into the deep end of the punk rock pool, would be unpleasant for you. I can already tell you like more melodic type punk.

Start small. Descendents, Ramones, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Misfits, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Old Dropkick Murphys, The Templars. Everyone should own at least something from each of them. Well, cept for Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.

Its hard for me cause I fag out and niche all my punk like an anal boy. In all actuality, you are probably asking the wrong person.

Bobo 10-26-2002 07:01 PM

I'll check 'em all out! Thanks! I did a pizza run so I couldn't respond earlier :)

...and my remark about punk listeners was pretty narrow minded. It's what I grew up believing, but I'm coming around:)

Haha Labret and I agree on some things:)

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give them a listening to.
