ya gotta admire the Swedish Wrestler

throwing away his bronze medal to take a stand, that is pretty principled of him

he felt he was robbed by the judges, he made an unmistakeable statement on world television, and he gave up his bronze medal forever

for those that didn't see it yet:

Crazy Armenian :Oh crap

He trained for 4 years to get a gold and a judge made a decision he did not like. He might of been right, if wrong then the wrestler has a right to be pissed off.

I personally really liked what he did. A lot of people will sellout... an olympic medal is quite something.

He dosen't have a price.

I agree with you on that, too many people go with the flow and don't stand up for what they see is injustice

Sweden loves him for it. He did the right thing.

TubeSubmitters 08-16-2008 01:23 AM

yeah, it's funny how quick youtube manages to get olympic coverage (even if it is not american network stuff that is uploaded) off of youtube, yet they claim immunity to all the copywritten stuff they serve all day long every day

how is that? are they protecting NBC because of the billion dollars that NBC paid for U.S. rights? or did the Swedish station that aired that video complain to youtube and get it removed (which seems unlikely to me but who knows)

something stinks about this

You would be surprised if you saw Sweden today. Not exactly the "blonde" picture you knew from the past. Last time I was in Sweden I was like ....WTF... 50% of the people I met didn't even speak swedish.

I didn't see the match, so you may very well be right... I'm just curious as to what exactly are the qualifications you possess that allow you to make that determination?

His actions at the medal ceremony were an embarrassment to himself, his team, his competitors, his nation, and international wrestling in general. There is a mechanism in place to protest calls and upstaging other athletes on the medal stand is not it.

I was glad to see that he was disqualified and kicked out of the Games.

he got shafted 4 years ago as well. Very questionable calls both times. Very!!!

I don't admire him unless he was 100% correct and the judge was terribly wrong. Otherwise he should just grow up.
