Spam me with good movie rentals

I'm going to stick around the house this weekend due to a slight back injury. Spam me with good movie suggestions. Although most movies are fictional, I prefer non-fictional themes. No sci-fi, horror (except for American Psycho type films), or romance stuff please.

x3guide 10-26-2002 12:49 AM

Thanks for the suggestions. I just finished watching Boxing Helena, without having a clue what it was about beforehand. It was quite disturbing.

frankfortuna 10-26-2002 12:56 AM

Anyone know the name of the allegedly semi-adult independent film that stirred up a bit of controversy at the film festivals recently?

Brown Bear 10-26-2002 12:57 AM

Office Space and Swingers are both great, and if you haven't seen Snatch yet then you need to see that.

I've seen them both. I especially enjoyed the scene where he takes the printer that tormented him to an empty lot and beat it to death.

Brown Bear 10-26-2002 01:01 AM

Training Day is also good

Glengarry Glen Ross
Boiler Room
At Play In The Fields Of The Lord (long movie and a Kathy Bates nude scene (yikes) but a damn good flick....a tradeoff...naked Kathy Bates, but also a full frontal nude scene from Darryl Hannah :))

Hi are you talking about Irreversible? It has a big long rape scene in it.

What movies do you like and I'll recommend some.

Exxxotica 10-26-2002 11:57 AM

Rented the movie "Fraility" the other night. Decent flick involving Family, God and human butchery. Wasnt as good as the critics said it was... but it was enjoyable.

I no longer rent movies because I have realized I will never be able to return them on time and after the first few days I keep putting it off until it costs me 30 bucks, so now any movie I want to see I just go buy the DVD.

Recent purchases.

Lord of the Rings
Carrie
South Park Halloween Collection
Resident Evil
13 Ghosts (original)
13 Ghosts (remake)
Mars Attacks
Simpsons First Season (3 DVDs)

Rictor 10-26-2002 12:50 PM

Hi Bear...
I sent you an ICQ w/ the download link before I left.
I'm not at my computer right now, and won't be back in town until Monday.

I'll resend when I get back. I'm not sure what happened. Sorry 'bout that. I don't have Outlook configured on my laptop, so I haven't gotten your email, nor do I have ICQ on here. I'm at a hotel right now.

Bear 10-26-2002 02:09 PM

Thanks Voodoo.

I just didn't got t. I just afraid you ran away :glugglug

That's ok. Just send me the url when you back at Monday. Thanks.

jollyperv 10-26-2002 02:19 PM

Requiem for a dream is pretty fucked up, get the unrated version though (anywhere but blockbuster)

Donny Darko fucking rules also.

nemesis 10-26-2002 04:23 PM

Run Lola Run - very nice one.

Sappy 10-26-2002 05:50 PM

Donnie Darko is the way to go.

mastamindz 10-26-2002 06:04 PM

I saw "40 days and 40 nights" yesterday
I liked it.

frankfortuna 10-26-2002 06:07 PM

Thanks for all the suggestions, it'll take me months, but at least I have a list now.

I'm ashamed to say it, but all I managed to do today was watch parts of BumFights.

I don't recall hearing anything about a rape scene, although I did hear that many filmgoers were appalled and left the viewing. Perhaps you are correct.

Slick 10-26-2002 06:44 PM

You should go out and rent Panic Room, that's a pretty good flick. I saw it when it was in the theatures, I was impressed.
