I want to learn Flash

How can I learn this shit? Is there like any good online tutorials? Or like a video seminar I can order?

How did you negros learn Flash? Did ya go to skool for it? I aint down with skool because I got other things to be doing.. so like a video I could watch while sitting at my computer would be cool.

Any recomendations?

Thanx

Here is what I suggest:

Instead of learning flash, just spend your time making more money, then you can just hire some designer and get them to make the shit for you.

That's the Brown Bear tip of the day! :thumbsup

And if anyone know something like this for video editing i'd like to know.

I'm trying to do shit with adobe premiere and having troubles here and there and noone knows how to edit videos and can help me out.

I'm looking for a crash course, either in a class (In Boston or NYC) or some good video tutes.

I can't learn anything from reading books...I zone out.

Yeah... but I sort of like the artistic aspect of Flash. Some of those sites are really nice looking.

I do a lot of stuff in the non-adult world (I know...blasphemy) and would like to add some flash sites to my portfolio.

Thanx for the tip though :)

pine 10-25-2002 10:23 PM

lol @ brownbear. Some of us like to learn stuff, too.

yeah me too, that's why I want to figure it out. I spent the money for it, might as well use it.

Mutt 10-25-2002 11:11 PM

pretty steep learning curve to Flash. Think it helps alot if if you have a solid background in programming in at least one language.
Artistic skills aren't enough.

I stick to nothing more than animated text effects. Maybe one day i'll go to a week seminar.

Unless you are a designer full time I think your time is better spent doing something else. Porn surfers don't care about Flash. They really don't. They don't really appreciate much. You could make a site with nothing but {center} and {p}'s and it might even convert better than a $2,500 design.

Flash, fancy graphics, are more about a webmaster's ego and pride, plus some potential affiliates correlate cool design with professionalism and big playa status so it does help get you affiliates, smaller ones but affiliates just the same.

Trenton 10-25-2002 11:21 PM

I would never use Flash on an adult site.

As for the learning curve...fuck yeah it's steep! That's why I need some help. I can do some cool shit in photoshop, dreamweaver, javascript, DHTML.... but I cant figure out that Flash stuff!

UnseenWorld 10-25-2002 11:22 PM

Flash is suicide. Surfers hit the BACK button in droves when they encounter Flash.

Spoonie Luv 10-25-2002 11:22 PM

...he says. Rockin' a cool Flash sig-button, and some flashy Flash on his site. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Flash can be very, very useful to create eye-and-ear catching presentations. Isn't that what it's all about? I think surfers perceptions of Flash are changing...and Flash MX makes designing easier for non-programmers.

As for surfers hitting the back button...well, with OEM systems shipping out with 1.8ghz processors and 512megs of RAM, broadband connections becoming more commonplace, the times they are a changin'...Flash is a tool that can be used judiciously to enhance the surfers experience.

Damn, I sound like a Macromedia ad, so I will now STFU.

Thats been my experience for the most part too. However, when I come across a well done site...man does it look good! Seems the simple flash sites are better. The really fancy ones witht the long loading intros and stuff are a pain.

(we're still talkin non-adult sites here?)

RedShoe 10-25-2002 11:48 PM

I think Flash should be used as a tool, not the main backbone to a site.

Too much flash kills. A little bit for enhancements like banner ads or just little touches are good.

yea? how do you know?
97% of active internet surfers have the plugin... where are the haters?

if it is as you said why top brands (let's say just: sony, philips) have their sites in flash or a lot of flash elements included (banners, intros, demos, panoramas...) ?

aaah .. I get it... they don't want surfers to eat their bandwith...

galleryseek 10-26-2002 03:26 AM

ah flash is definately something POSITIVE for a designer to learn. here is something too true when it comes to making eye catching flash

10% skill 90% creativity

most of all the impressive flash sites out there only consist of tweens, n' thats all it is. if you wanna design kickass flash, you first have to have an established base of design concept, if you don't have that.. then theres not really any use of attempting flash if your primary goal is to make impressive sites.

This is for the guy, who wanted to learn video editing. There is an excellent video "getting started with Premiere 6" its short and to the point. You can get it at wwwgettingstartedvideo.com

Pornwolf 10-26-2002 08:13 AM

The great thing about Macromedia is their tutorials that are included with all of the products is top notch.

I learned how to use all of the products buy following the lessons in the tutorials in the help tab.

Check it out. After you are finish taking the lesson just imagine what you want a project to look like and try to make it. The Contents search index in help is extra useful when you get stuck.

I wanna learn how to give a proper rimjob

tanco521 10-26-2002 10:32 AM

Give this a shot...cheap as hell and easy as balls to operate. Does almost everything you'll ever need to do.

Pornwolf 10-26-2002 10:42 AM

I use swish first sometimes and import it into Flash MX. The quality comes out better that way

Fletch XXX 10-26-2002 10:47 AM

I click 'no flash' on sites all day.

so do i...if i have a choice. i actually think a little bit of flash will enhance certain sites, specifically affiliate program sites. i dont think they are necessary for pay sites or tgps or anything else because a lot of people still do no have flash.

Pornwolf 10-26-2002 10:56 AM

My 76 year old grandmother has flash on her pentium 133. Flash in moderation is visible by most people who have plumbing.

This means that you do not know the power of adult games.

I was thinking the same way as you did. I was very good in Flash so I started to make adult games. I was not sure that people would buy such games. But after making the first game(Strip Poker) and having a huge succes with it I realised that there is a market for such games. The reason there is a market is that surfers actualy love to play adult games.

So now I wouldn't say that I wouldn't use Flash on adult sites. Now I produce Flash stuff for adult games(Just check out the e-card on my site and you'll know what I'm talking about).

This is a funny one..

flashfreak 10-26-2002 02:13 PM

a good resource site: http://www.actionscripts.org

swish is not flash... it's just an application that makes fancy effects.. I'd recommend it if you need flash effects done fast .. but if you know actionscript you can make the same effects and your file size will be cutted by half.
I'd recommend Flax if you're searching for text effrects.. way better than swish...
