Basic_man 08-13-2008 04:33 AM

Very funny!!

OG LennyT 08-13-2008 05:18 AM

gold total is more important than overall total it appears

seeandsee 08-13-2008 05:21 AM

Gold medals [top] are what rest of world is rank, america number of total medals (so somebody with zillion bronze medals could be first too :) )

tenletters 08-13-2008 07:32 AM

Counting total number of all medals a country has is sorta gay. Being proud that your country has more medals than another country even though more of your medals are silver and bronze is like "Yeah, our country has more also-rans than your country" Whooptie-freakin-shit ! FAIL

Medaling at all is tough but let's face the fact that it's all about getting gold.

Chinese athletes have been cgi enhanced for dramatic effect

Manowar 08-13-2008 07:48 AM

pretty funny, but you can see both sides of it

ADL Colin 08-13-2008 07:49 AM

Both matter. Maybe something like 3x gold + 2x silver + 1 x bronze would give good idea. But that is arbitrary too

StuartD 08-13-2008 07:56 AM

It's all about the positive spin... they're showing the facts, in the way they do, to make the USA look better.
It's not wrong, but it's not really right either.

http://msn.foxsports.com/olympics lol but, http://www.foxsports.com.au/beijing_olympics

both are from fox

I mean gold is the standard. Who really cares about 2nd, or 3rd unless you as a county does a sweep.

Nice spin.

i agree with colin, a points system would settle it for good. All medals are not equal.

raven1083 08-13-2008 08:22 AM

Bossman 08-13-2008 10:29 AM

Could it be due to the metric system? :upsidedow

anyone checked if Liberia, and Myanmar also have the US as #1? :pimp
